I carry an "as issued" full size H&K P2000 40S&W daily while on duty on our SW border.
At one time, nearly 30 years ago we were allowed to carry personally owned handguns as long as they were .357 Magnum, 9mm, or .45 ACP. Most officers carried Colt 1911s, or Commanders.
When the agency finally settled on the H&K P2000 40S&W it was the similar familiar feel of the 1911's that
resulted in it's generally, universal acceptance by officers required to carry it.
My purchase of the P2000 sk in the same caliber, allows for a comfortable concealed carry off duty, of essentially the same weapon with which I am armed 8-16 hours per day at work.
Quality and "quirks" of this handgun are familiar and add to the confidence and competence of on and off duty carry.
