I have no bias relating to taurus, so after looking at different brands of 1911s I chose this one based on looks, features, and price. I wait a while before reviewing guns so I can spend some time shooting and really learning it. Out of the box the gun was dirty. It appeared to be glued to the foam in the box. A layer of the foam was stuck on the gun and both mags. Not a huge issue really. The gun is very tight, seems well built, with no visible scratches or tooling marks. Very reliable, no jams or problems of any sort. Accuracy is amazing with tight perfect groups at 10-15 yards. But it shoots about 8-10 inches LOW. The gun shoots so low i feel like I\'m going to shoot myself in the foot. You cant adjust the sights for how low it is. Pretty disappointing in that aspect. Overall i still like it, but i wouldnt grab it for something other than a paper target

the gun shoots as well as my baby desert and or my kimber!!! (all range shots at 25yds.) buds was very easy to work with. only problem i have is it is supposed to come with a cleaning rod and mine did`nt and buds has not responded to any e-mails. this will not reflect my rating the gun! the gun is truly a 5 star that i would recommend!!

I just got my Taurus PT1911 today and Buds was great in ordering and getting my pistol. When inspecting the pistol at the FFL the first thing I noticed was the foam in the case was stuck to the gun and the magazines. Also the brush was missing that comes with all taurus'. After cleaning all the foam off the gun and mags I took the gun out and put 100 rounds through it and it ran with no problems. I ran 25 rounds of Federal Hydra Shok +p then 75 rounds of American Eagle fmj. Also the firing pin block had to be hammered out and hammered back in to clean the slide in where the extractor is. It will be easier to get in and out in time. Even with the small negatives with the gun it ran and felt awesome. It is nice and tight and dead on as long as I can keep the front sight on target. Thank you Buds. Have to say that Hickok45 got me into buds.

The main thing about this gun is its a pretty decent 1911 for a price much cheaper than the next best thing. Its not perfect but it functions great. It doesnt have the same fit and finish as a colt but it functions like one and costs half as much. The safety lever on the right side of the gun for left handed shooters will break off. it doesnt affect the function of the lever for right handed shooters so to me it wasnt a big deal but its pretty sad that mine broke off before i even shot the gun. In the end you get what you pay for and if you want perfection buy a different gun.
