Quality piece, but a bit heavy for carry. Love the way it shoots and the 7 round capacity. Very solid, no problems.

Buds delivers! And Smith & Wesson still can do the best revolvers from the world, for me at least. I received my 686+ subnose in great condition (clean as well for who may ask). I purchased this 686+ to shoot .357 Magnums full time and for this kind of application this is an excellent tool. The factory grips are very comfortable even for long shooting sessions (300+ rounds) with hot Magnum ammo and unlike smaller frames for me there is no problem to recover after shots and fire in quick succession on the target. As precision goes, the gun is as precise as the shooter can be. .38 Specials, including +P shoot very well also (and with less recoil of course) but this gun asks for .357 Magnum and for that it does not disappoint.

Very nice revolver. Smooth trigger and the grips are very comfortable.

What an excellent gun this is. Just as cool looking and fun to shoot as I expected. This thing is a blast, it can handle high pressure 357's like they're nothing. The short barrel doesn't change a whole lot compared to the long barrel 686 I recently switched for this. It's a shocker because I really expected there to be a significant difference but not much at all. I wanted a shorter barrel version to make it more practical for a bedside gun and you get an extra shot to go into the gun so how perfect is that?? Great gun all in all.

My S&W 686P .357 Magnum arrived at my FFL dealer in superb condition. The .357 Magnum round has been around for many, many decades, and has proven itself, time, and time again. Once again, than you Bud's Gun Shop for great service!!

First of all 3rd firearm purchase from Bud's and I have a 4th on layaway, always great service and their prices are so low it's crazy to buy anywhere else. I picked up the gun the day I was going out of town for Christmas vacation, I had a lot on my mind and did not thoroughly inspect it. Mistake. First time looking the gun over carefully I discovered one side of the trigger guard was missing approximately 1/8 inch chunk of metal with a sharp burr. Literally sharp enough to cut my finger when I held it. Also no spent shell casing in the box for some reason. Gun was quite dirty but I expected it after reading other S&W reviews WHAT IS UP WITH THAT. Since I had accepted the gun from the FFL it was too late to return it to Bud's so I had to contact S&W. They sent a prepaid return label and kept the gun 3 weeks, returned it to me fixed. Big, heavy (a good thing) intimidating-looking gun even in 2.5" that shoots soft and I love having a 7 shot revolver in the nightstand. I added a Pachmayr "compac" grip that makes it less cumbersome and more symmetrical, and also shortens the reach to the trigger. If you buy one make sure you inspect your gun thoroughly and check the box contents before you accept it from the FFL.
