So let\'s look at this from two angles: (1) Price/Logistics and (2) Firearm Review [note: I have had the item for about 5 days only, but have run 500 rounds through her in all options] (1) In my hands, the whole thing knocked my back ~$730. The gun was $683, I did not use cash, my FFL charged $20 - and I don\'t think that is a beatable price no matter how you slice it. Logistically, I ordered the firearm on a Sunday, so I did not have unreasonable expectations as to it arriving Tuesday. It took about 6 business days, but (again) for saving $100 or so, the wait was not too terribly disconcerting. I would perform similar transactions in the future., (2) Review. I am left handed and have been tolerating semi-auto pistol(s) for a while. This was to be my first revolver, and (according to many of my friends, associates, and contemporaries) I possibly chose one of the best in terms of handling, versatility, and size. One of my jobs requires me to open carry. This thing announces your position quite clearly. There is no mistaking what it is, it does not blend in with your clothes, it performs what I need it to perform (in terms of open carry). For plinking, range work, etc. it will take a relatively inexpensive .38 round and because it is a heavy gun, there is minimal recoil when using these. It handles the P without breaking a sweat as well. [side note - I chose the 4\" barrel after narrowing it down to the 3\" and the 4\" .... mainly because I have size 8 hands, am not a small person, and that extra 0.8 ounces is not going to cause me that much stress, but the overall experience at the range has been a bit better than a 3\" Ruger I have been shooting ... yes, I am aware we are comparing apples to velcro.] Now, back to my shooting experience. This puppy comes into her own when you load it with 357 rounds. The Hornady 125 XTP groups so tight, that I feel I am as close as I am with the 38 loads. Sure, I am probably exaggerating, but it takes the hit much better than the GP100, owing to the heavier frame and more beefy underlug. I am in Texas, and if I was just crazy enough, I\'d buy another one and wear two at once. Anyone considering a 357, but wants versatility with 38S, P and magnum rounds, this is one that I would highly suggest you place in the short list pile before you close the deal. Truthfully, this gun (despite it\'s non bargain price tag) had made me a Smith & Wesson fanboy and I am probably going to get a J frame for the wife and around the bedroom/kitchen. Again, it is not a cheap handgun, but as my friend Tony once said \"buy it nice or buy it twice\"

Wow, this gun is awesome. It's the first revolver I've purchased and it's quickly become my favorite at the range. I've got lots of semis and appreciate the high capacity and speed, but the finely machined fit and finish of this gun is hard to stop admiring. It's very accurate and a pleasure to shoot. Not a bad recoil at all considering it's a 357. I usually play around with 38's which are nothing at all to shoot and quite a bit cheaper. If you're considering a 357, I highly recommend this one.

Another purchase from Bud's, No problems at all and my local FFL here in Texas is cool to do business with. This S&W is like all others, high quality and I like the trigger pull right out of the box. I fired a couple hundred rounds, 38, 38 plus P and 357, with pretty fair accuracy for a mature dude. Still like the feel of a big wheel gun, the grip is a tad small for me but the gun overall is a beauty.

This was my first ever gun purchase, and I did it through Bud's. I couldn't be happier with the results. This was the gun I was looking to buy. It was in stock. The ordering was easy. Picking the FFL was easy. It was a S&W, so you pretty much know the gun itself would be quality... and it was. I've got the bug now. I WILL be back in 30 days to get my pistol choice next. I would be back sooner but it's California.

Nothing negative about this finely made gun! Absolutely beautiful! It arrived in only two days from Buds to my FFL dealer. Got it that evening. It was in new condition, no stains, no powder, no nothing, it was exceptionally clean! The tolerances on this gun were very tight and precise...nothing loose or sloppy. Trigger pull, as with S&M revolvers is a little hard, but perfect for me...in single action, the trigger pull is light as a feather...hardly any pressure at all to pull! This 686P is a "little" on the heavy side, but it's perfect for me for CWC...does not print with my shoulder holster....I'll be getting a Galco high side holster from Buds when they come back in stock. I also ordered the Crimson Trace Laser grips for this gun....the grips fit perfect the first time! The gun shoots great...spot on and also with the laser grips added...no adjustment needed. This gun fires .357 magnum, .38, .38 special and .38 special + P.....it's nice to have a gun that uses four different types of ammo.....so the .38s can be used for practice, target shooting, etc. then it was recommended that I use .38 special hollow points for self defense..... The .357 magnums, of course, kicks a little bit, but nothing to be concerned about.....the .38 ammos are all a blast to practice with. I'm more than happy with this Smith & Wesson 686P...It's real nice to have an extra round in the cylinder, and this was a main feature that influenced me to buy....it's one great all around gun in my collection....I have nothing but praise for Smith and Wesson. Of course, I have the highest praise for BudsGunShop! These guys are the nicest, most efficient people ever to work with....the transaction went so smooth....they constantly kept me informed of my status of my order, let me know when it was sent out, no problems at all....I can't believe a company this terrific exists in today's world.......their prices beat out everyone else! I can't say enough nice things about BudsGunShop! I will always buy from the for their excellent service and devotion to their customers......and hopefully, if I keep saying good things about these guys, I'll get a free sample or something! Hat's off to BudsGunShop AND Smith & Wesson.............a great company and a fantastic well made revolver....it's just beautiful!
