Received my 686P last night. All I can say is WOW. Buds got me the gun in 2 days, fantastic customer service, prices, everything, I couldn't be happier. The 686 is a fantastic revolver, perfect balance, easy to shoot, eats .38 special ammo like candy, and handles .357 rounds smooth as silk. Plus its built like a tank, so you know it will last. In the future, I'll definitely be buying more from Buds.

Smith & Wesson is obviously getting complacent when it comes to fit & FINISH. I first ordered the S&W 686 (6-round capacity) but as pulled it out of the box for inspection, my FFL dealer chuckled and said "you'd think they'd clean a USED gun before selling it". He was absolutely right, the gun was filthy; it looked like a hundred rounds of cheap, dirty ammo had been fired through it. I refused to accept the gun and contacted Bud's. As usual, their customer service was awesome. Not only did they willingly take the weapon back, they explained that they'd seen a lot of dirty guns from Smith & Wesson lately and offered a full refund. Still wanting a 686 in my collection, they allowed me to upgrade to the 686P as my replacement (I paid the difference of course). Having been warned, I was slightly less disappointed when it also showed up dirty; luckily not as dirty. This is no fault of Bud's, so they will continue to get my business, but Smith & Wesson should be ashamed of their so-called Quality Control. Once you get past the dirt, the gun is a great addition to any collection and good choice for a novice shooter. In fact, my wife refers to it as "her gun", but that's ok, it gives me an excuse to keep shopping at Bud's.

Already dissatisfied with this revovler as the barrel is canted to the left. I knew it was a big problem with S&W putting out these canted barrel revolvers all across the board, but I decided to roll the dice and lost. I accepted the revolver anyways as the 686p is the only quality (internally) 7 shot 357 magnum out there and chances are If I requested another 686p, it would have the same problem. This is going to be my wifes HD gun and I really want that extra round. If I wanted a 6 shot, I would have went with Ruger, and I dont trust Taurus. So I will be sending it back to the facotry as soon as my 10 day waiting period is up (CA). Hopefully they can fix it, but it may not be fixable, so I could be in for a real hassel here. No im not waiting to write the review untill after Im done with customer service since S&W knows exactly the quality they are putting out.
