I never expected a lemon from Smith and Wesson, but this was terrible out off the box. I didn\'t know S&W ever shipped bad products, but I got one. In their defense, S&W customer service was as nice as could be on Internet chat, sent me a label for free shipping back to them for repair, and their gunsmiths fixed the problem. After repair, where they replaced the cylinder and firing pin, the revolver is very good. Note: FedEx of course requires an adult signature for firearms and will not schedule shipping with firearms, not even if you have the app and offer to pay, so I had to drive to the FedEx depot to pick it up in the evening, four weeks after my original purchase.
Before repair, the cylinder would not always rotate when pulling the trigger. Even if the cylinder rotated, the firing pin often left a smaller than normal dimple on the brass but only went \"click\", not \"bang\".
Before repair, in several hundred pulls of the trigger, I fired 120 rounds. Cheap ammo and nice ammo were the same - failures to fire even on those attempts where the cylinder appeared to rotate the correct distance. After repair, it fired a box of 555 cheap rounds with one failure to fire - comparable to other revolvers and probably attributable to the ammo and not the S&W.
Enough with the criticism. I haven\'t gotten over my annoyance and distrust, but that\'s just a personal bias that should fade. This is a good small-frame revolver and is fun to shoot. It\'s accurate. It\'s comfortable. I like the trigger. I liked the grip but still replaced it with a CTC. S&W backed their product when needed, and that\'s good to know. Buds was, of course, perfect. S&W? Minus one star because of the inconvenience.
