This is my third gun purchase from Buds and it went smoothly as usual. I will be buying more from Buds in the future for sure. The 642 is a great CCW. The laser makes it a great choice for home protection. Fit and finish are excellent as expected from S & W. While the 642 is not the most fun to shoot, it serves its purpose as a light and effective carry weapon.

A great concealed carry package. The laser sights make this weapon suitably accurate at surprising distances, i.e., 25 yards. These grips are long enough to support the pinky finger, which makes them a little more difficult to conceal. They do shoot very well, though. I may replace them with the shorter laser grips for better concealment. These grips work OK with HKS speedloaders.

I bought a S&W .38 from Bud's and would buy from them again.

In my opinion it’s too large for pocket carry unless you’re wearing cargo pants. I agree with Adam that this is not particularly a fun gun to shoot. The trigger is not over the top heavy, but gets tiresome after a 50 rounds. The size and weight make it a great conceal carry revolver. The sights have no contrast and are what you expect on a small J frame revolver which is why I purchased the Crimson Trace model. I give the 642CT 2 stars at the range and 4 stars as a conceal carry weapon. I would have given 5 stars if it had a slightly lighter trigger pull.

Excellent concealed carry option. Small and light, great for pocket carry or IWB. Reliable, and I trust a .38spl +P more than the 380ACP of most pocket autos. I'm not normally a fan of laser sights, but I think for a small pocket gun with sights that are difficult to see even in daylight (and invisible in the dark), a laser grip is a good option. Note this overmolded CT grip is a bit easier to grip than the standard grips, but the tradeoff is it's a tad more difficult to conceal. The 642CT is not a particularly fun gun to shoot; it's not a great range gun and it's not a great choice for a new shooter (a lot of people think a small gun is the best choice for a new shooter, particularly a female shooter. While intuitive this is not true - small guns are difficult to shoot), and the DAO trigger takes some practice to get used to. However, where CCW is concerned the gun you have on you is the one most likely to save your life, and the 642CT in your pocket is an excellent defensive choice (in fact I have mine in my pocket as I write this review).
