This stainless match barrel version of the "loaded" M1A by Springfield Armory is the second "Loaded" M1A rifle that I have had the pleasure of owning. It has become fashionable these days to make disparaging remarks about "cast receivers" such as the receivers that SA uses on these M1A rifles. My research has not produced a single example of a SA receiver failure of any kind under normal use! That entire controversy appears to be a marketing ploy created to sell "other manufacturers" goods..... so pay it no mind when considering this fine rifle! I cleaned my rifle out and made certain that she was ready to fire rounds for break-in. I fired 80 rounds of Federal M1A 150 FMJ 7.62x51 cartridges throughout several weeks at various field targets of opportunity at various distances and a rough sight-in. Satisfied that the rifle was functioning as expected (and I haven't seen the SA M1A yet that didn't function perfectly right out of the box) I setup for bench shooting and sight-in with my "M1A loads", 165 gr. Nosler ballistic tips. Shooting was done at 100 yards with adequate time for barrel cooling between shots and only 3 shot groups were fired. The rifle functioned without flaw and the sights performed as expected, clean and precise in movement to zero. If you are familiar with bench rest shooting technique and the proper use of the type of sights that come on these rifles, then you should be able to shoot groups that go well under 1 moa at 100 yards, using good loads that the rifle likes. I managed to put three shots into the same hole on one group! I won't say what the average group size was for my rifle, I will just say that if a National Match grade M1A can out shoot this rifle of mine, I am at a loss to understand how it will do it ;) Springfield Armory's M1A is truly in a class by itself. Accurate, Reliable and Enduring. Pricey? Yeah, they cost some hard earned money, but you will be proud to own one and glad you spent the money on it after you have had it long enough to have made friends with it..... In this age of "plastic and alloy" its nice to have good old wood and steel, "Lock, Stock & Barrel" sitting near by..... If you haven't purchased from Bud's yet, make them your first experience in internet purchasing, they'll make you glad that you did....

WOW! When I picked this up from my FFL (Cabelas) The Store Manager said, "this is a gun of a lifetime", and he is right. I took this to the range shortly after receiving it and easily shot thru 50 rounds. It's Tits on. Fantastic quality, perfection in function, and beautiful to look at. This is not a rifle for the weak or limp, this is a mans rifle, beefy, heavy, thick, and will last a lifetime. I plan on keeping this in the family forever, and shooting the shit out of it, cleaning it every-time it's used, and then wiping it down with an oiled cloth before putting her away... It's a bargain here at Bud's. I've seen it for sale for 2K. The only bad thing is the wait. I waited nearly a year after paying Buds for it. But Wow, it was worth the wait...

What is there to say about the M1A. Got the Standard with SS. No worries on the firearm.

I have wanted one of these for the longest time, now my list is down to one rifle. This is without a doubt the Cadillac of .308's. Accurate right out of the box, smooth feed, crisp trigger pull, and beautiful to look at. If you are on the fence about buying this rifle...get off and buy it, you will not regret it. Absolutely wonderful, no misfeeds, misfires, jams, nothing on the first 200 rounds.
