This is an amazing pistol for the money. I got this from Buds on a layaway program. I got it very quick after my last payment. I took it out the next weekend and it shoots great. It is a really solid pistol. I really recommend this pistol.

!!! Great deal!!! I got that bug you get. I usually call it GAS. Gear Acquisition Syndrome. It usually happens with music gear since I'm a musician by training. But I saw the S&W 686 7 shot .357. I've been wanting my first revolver for a while, since I learned to shoot revolvers first, but never found one of quality that I could afford. So I see this Taurus 66b 7 shot and think . . . Taurus . . . I've had some good ones and some bad ones, let's give it a try, at this price anything is better than nothing to shoot .38 spl and .357 with. So I put it on lay away and make payments I can afford over Christmas and it comes in. I put 100 rounds through it at the range. It's very consistently a hair to the left at 3 yards using hard ball Sig Elite Performance 125 gr. I push the paper out to 5 yards and walk the shots to the center one twist at a time the adjustments. I start backing it out to 13 yards which is the back of the range and it's still shooting on, and my 4 target paper is pretty mangled after a 50 round box. I get a half size silhouette and proceed to fire 50 rounds of Winchester white box semijacketed soft point flat nose 125gr as fast as I can load by hand (no speed loader grabbing two shells at a time, may need to find a three shell method for a 7 shot, but still can't do that) and get everything on the silhouette with on a couple on the left shoulder out of the scoring markers. No failures, great trigger, shooting some of the best groups I get at speed and slow fire.

Ok, first the good: The single action trigger pull at about 4 pounds is great. Recoil with 38 special ..... well there isn\'t any! Very accurate, and how can you go wrong with adjustable rear sights. The build quality is solid and it seems like this is a gun you can pass down to your offspring. This thing is a blast to shoot. The not so good: The factory grip is narrow and too pointed in the back. This hurts the shooting hand. There are after market solutions however they cost an additional $20. The sights are black on black and hard to pick up in an indoor range. A cleaver person with some paint can fix this however it is just one more step. As you can deduce this is a chunk of steel and is heavy in the hand. All in all this is a great gun and should provide you with years of shooting fun.

I love this revolver. It's not beautiful in black but the finish is even all across and looks nice. The fit is very tight, i'm actually looking forward to it loosening up a bit with use. Bottom line though is that it's fun to shoot. It functions perfectly, very happy with my purchase. Also, I was just taking it out to check that it performed well as in firing and functioning. But while I was out I kept being struck by how accurate it seems to be. I can't wait to go to the indoor range and give it a proper test because I expect that it will be scary accurate!
