The gun is pretty much exactly what I had hoped for. i really like the way it feels in my hands. It feels really good with .38 special ammo, and it handles the .357 magnum rounds with out feeling like the gun is being over powered by the ammo. My only criticisms are, I did not notice when i first picked up the gun, but it has some gouges and scrapes in the metal right on the end of the barrel. I didn't notice them when I first examined the gun. But, I am certain the gun was not damaged after i took possession. I may not have taken the gun if I had noticed them when I first looked at it. Fortunately, I don't think the accuracy is affected more than what my shooting skill is capable of noticing. The only other issue I have had is that after about 120 rounds through the gun on my second time with it at the range, I had a soft pop on a round. It was probably bad ammo. However, the cylinder wouldn't turn and wouldn't open immediately afterwards. It had become jammed with several live rounds still in the gun. It took a good 1 minute of pushing and pulling on the cylinder before I finally got it to open, and was able to empty the cylinder and check out the gun. After that it seemed to work fine again. Not sure what to think about that. I shot another 10-12 rounds through it with not issues. I am happy with it. I enjoy shooting it. I think the overall look and feel of the gun is exceptional. Just a couple of gouges in the metal, and the one time the cylinder did not open without a struggle.

Just got time to take this revolver in a range accuracy is marvelous no recoil at all when holding with both hands. Shot 100 rounds of .38 special Fiocchi and 50 rounds of .357 Fiocchi no problem at all. When I got the revolver I notice there was some rust inside the barrel, the FFL guy told me it is just the copper's residue when they shot a first trail ammo, Other than that it's very good revolver. Recommended for everyone. Buds shipping was okay took about ten days to get deliver.

This was my first purchase from Buds and it went very smooth. Used one of Buds preferred FFL dealers and my firearm was at the dealer in less then a week. The Taurus 66 is a great revolver for the price. I have had it for about 10 months and have had no problems with it at all. It will handle anything from low grain .38 to the baddest .357 mag rounds available. I would strongly recommend this revolver to anyone looking for a wheel gun.

As anyone who's taken the time to do a quick internet search on Taurus Firearms I'm sure you've run into quite a bit of negative criticism towards the operation of said firearms. My first firearm, do to cost was a Taurus PT111 9mm, had no issues and the gun function great, yet I saw quite a few mixed reviews on it. Same goes for Taurus Revolvers, mixed reviews, lemons, bad batches etc. I purchased their .357 Mag T66 due to my previous experience with the PT111 and I must say the Taurus 66 Revolver is quite the let down. Cosmetically the gun is quite beautiful but as far as the firearms intended purpose for reliably firing in a defensive situation, its a huge disgrace. The first 50 rounds I ran through it were heavy grain 357 mags. I fired several wheels as fast as I could pull the trigger. I then slowed down and varied my trigger pulls from slow and steady, to rapid, and just general mixing up my rate of fire. Prior to running through all 50 rounds the wheel locked up and I was unable to pull the trigger, hammer, or rotate the cylinder manually. I had to pop the cylinder lock and figgit the wheel to get it to come out of the gun. This seems to be a common problem I've run into amongst reviewers of this firearm. Sadly I'm another to ad to the list. Ive now shot varied weights from 357 to 38 super, JHP to MFJ and I have to say there is no difference what so ever. The gun still locks up and performs unreliably. I was lucky enough once to run 50 rounds through the firearm without a single issue but it seemed there was no rhyme or reason as to what was causing the gun cylinder, trigger to lock up. I'm still at a loss and fear paying shipping to Taurus only to have them return it stating "it functions within means" like so many others have reported. If you're looking for a pretty paper weight then you shouldnt be looking to operate and own a firearm. That being said, I'd steer clear of Taurus Revolvers based soley on my experience with a long running platform that apparently Taurus is still unable to master when so many others have originals from the early 1900s that function without issue.
