Classic survival rifle. The Henry is the best one out there that has made the market.

Bought this to throw in my ruck for camping, hiking, etc.. First impressions were good. Lightweight, easy to assemble/disassemble and it beaks down and fits right in the side pocket of my ruck, too perfect. Had a few malfunctions while firing the first few magazines through it but that seemed to clear up pretty quickly after breaking it in a bit. While trying to zero however I noticed that the grouping this gun puts out is crap. About the size of a softball at 15 yards from a bench rest. Thinking that it may have been an ammo issue, I tried several different kinds of ammo through this including some higher quality target loads that I use in my 22/45 and got the same grouping. Despite this I took it with me on a 3 day camping/canoeing trip down the river and had mixed results. I was able to shoot a Water Moccasin swimming toward our boat at about 15 yards with the first shot, so that was good. But later that evening after we made camp I went out squirrel hunting with it and was severely disappointed with it due to it's accuracy. Not being able to bag dinner with your "Survival Rifle" is definitely a downer . It's a cool novelty gun but I wouldn't count on using it for survival or hunting purposes, but if you do, your game with thank you as it scampers off.

Ok, I'm no weapons expert, but used to own a Charter Arms AR-7 when I served in the U.S. Army long ago, It was a good rifle, this Henry version, however, I personally think it is rife with design flaws and I'm surprised no one has called them out for it. First, the notch where the receiver slides into the stock, it is not symmetrical. That is, there is more stock on one side of the receiver than the other. I like my guns to be balanced, when you sight down the barrel the gun should not look like it's crooked or cocked at an angle. This design flaw is in all the rifles. And I could live with that, but....... On my rifle the hi-vis plastic front site is canted in the 5:30 position, with the top of the site in the middle of the clock and the bottom of the site at 5:30. And the site slides in and out of the notch too easily, I'm not sure if this site is designed to adjust for windage or not. I don't like it, too much slop. The rear site can be adjusted for elevation. All in all, MY rifle is useless outta the box unless you mount a scope.
