I purchased one of these Henry Survival Rifles (AR-7) because I wanted an inexpensive but tough rifle that I could carry in my car and use for plinking or as an emergency firearm. Bud's service was not super fast but it was adequate. I had the rifle in about a week. In general, I am pleased with this Henry Survival rifle. It is a mass produced gun but the quality of materials and workmanship is good. The gun is lightweight and compact which is just what I wanted. Note that this is not a target rifle. The lightweight barrel tends to walk a little when it heats up and is sensitive to barrel pressure from the way it is rested. The trigger was a little stiff because the gun is new. It broke at a measured 6 1/2 lbs which is a bit heavy for best accuracy. Therefore, this is not a gun that will shoot dime size groups at 50 yards. It is more like 1/2 dollar size groups. Nevertheless, accuracy is adequate for my purposes and better than I could achieve with a 22 pistol or revolver. On the good side, during my first shooting session, I put about 150 rounds through the rifle (mostly CCI and Winchester ammo) without any malfunctions of any kind. So, the gun seems very reliable which is the most basic requirement for a survival rifle. Overall, I am satisified that this rifle does the job I want it to do.

This was first actual gun purchase. Took it out today and I was seriously impressed with it's accuracy. I tried it at 25 yrds, then 50, then 75 and I had great groupings with it. I will be dealing with Buds' much more in the near future. Excellent first time purchasing experience. Thank you!

First time ordering from bud's and I would definitely do it again. Ordered my rifle on monday night and had it by thursday evening. As for the Henry Survival rifle, very impressed. 60 rounds thur it on the first day and not a single failure. My groupings at 25 yards were in the 2 inch range. A very cool and little piece to keep in the car or take camping and for the price i might pick up another for the wife. 5 stars

nice rifle for the money and pretty accurate. i know it is picky with the types of ammo it likes but took the 333 round winchester ammo just fine. excited to take it on a camping trip.

Received my AR-7 about 2 weeks ago. It's a cool little gun that shoots well, and groups well, it's been my experience with all of my .22 rifles that if I use good ammunition such as CCI stingers or the Winchester varmint loads all of my .22's have performed flawlessly. My 6 year old daughter was shooting cans at 50 yards, what more can I say. However with all of that being said I did find it difficult the first few times to open the butt cover to access the receiver and barrel, especially when its cold, I would like to see Henry place a tab or something on the cover to assist with opening. The front site was also loose but nothing that couldn't be fixed with a drop of my girlfriends nail polish after siting it in. It's a solid little gun at a great price and suits my needs perfectly. I'd reccomend it to anyone.

It really is very compact and light. Perfect for carrying in a backpack or stowing in a small compartment in a pop-up or camper. Assembly is easy and quick, and since it comes with two magazines, they can be loaded and stored in the butt with the rest of the parts. When it came in, I completely tore it down and did the initial cleaning. It takes down very simply with no tools required. (bolt, recoil springs and spring alignment carrier) A few passes through the barrel with a patch and rod told me it had been fired by the factory for testing, probably a magazine full. After a light oiling, reassembly was just as simple as dis-assembly, and in about 15 minutes total time, was all back in the stock ready to go to it's test firing. I took this to the range today and put 250 rounds through it. Federal value pack bulk, 36 grain copper plated hollowpoint. From other reviews, I thought the hollowpoints could be a real issue, but not with this one. I had one round fail to fire, not the guns fault, just a bad round. The other 249 rounds went through with no issues, no errors, no mis-feeds, no jams, - a perfect feed every time, down to the last round. For the purposes of accuracy, don't hold the barrel to stabilize it when shooting. It will not be accurate if you do. Let the barrel free float as it was designed to do. That said, at 25 yards, this rifle will consistently shoot _1" groups. This was designed to be a short range, compact and lightweight rifle. I would take this little gem into the jungle (concrete or woods) for a survival piece without any hesitation. It will suite the task of feeding you wild small game or fending off larger two legged predators. Just for SHTF purposes, put one in the car, the truck, the boat, and in the backpack. The price is right. The gun is good to go.
