Received my Marlin 1895 from Buds in a matter of a few days. I was slightly worried about the quality of these firearms after reading multiple poor reviews from folks who had bought these guns since Remington bought Marlin and took over production. The folks at Remington must have got the bugs worked out as my gun had very good fit and finish. The action works smooth and the gun is shooting sub moa groups with Hornady lever 325's right out of the box. I am happy I went with Marlin.

Great service from Buds, and weapon arrived quickly at my local FFL. Overall a nice weapon, and no complaints in terms of the rifle or functionality. However, I did find the bluing on the receiver not to be up to par. Nonetheless, it is a solid and nice looking rifle.

Marlin 45/70 with 22\" barrel shoots fine, kicks pretty good. Lever-action pretty smooth, but fit and finish was better when Marlin built it!

I purchased this firearm from buds a few months ago with some concern over the quality issues. Well it seems that Remington has definitely gotten a handle on the quality issues. The firearm shoots very well, the action cycles smoothly, and there were no blemishes in any of the components. the only bad things I have to say about the rifle is that the factory sights are very hard to see, and the factory recoil pad may as well not be there. Both problems are easily rectified though with a limbs aver and xs ghost ring sights. All in all though I would definitely recommend this rifle to anyone looking for sheer knock down power.

I absolutely love this rifle. Lots of power and in a classy well crafted design. Shipping was fast and dependable. Will always do business with Buds.

I purchased this gun to hunt Deer in Ohio. I too was a bit apprehensive due to some rather bad reviews. Remington seems to have solved their manufacturing problems. This rifle functions well and the accuracy is hard to believe. With Remington factory 300 gr loads, Hornady 325 FTX hand loads or Honady 350 grain handloads it will consistently shoot around 1” at 100 yards. With some thrown together 420 grain home cast test loads it shot around 3” at 100 yards. I had heard these rifles were crazy accurate, but I thought it was exaggeration. Contrary to popular belief the 45-70 does not destroy much meat, you can almost eat up to the bullet hole. The only complaints I had were the rather rough trigger pull and the robust recoil. My neighbor whom is a gunsmith improved the trigger pull immensely within a few minutes by three strokes with a stone. He said it had a few burrs and all he did was remove them. Trigger pull dropped from a rough 6.5lb to a smooth 3.5lb. Recoil with the 300 grain factory loads was robust, with the mid range (1800 fps) 350gr handloads it was painfully brutal. Removing the factory recoil brick and replacing it with a soft Limbsaver pad made a huge difference. The 350 gr reloads still jump like crazy, but they are now comfortable and even fun to shoot. Buds service was excellent. The rifle is attractive, the action is smooth, it points well, swings well, with the few minor changes it is now excellent in all respects.
