First, to give credit where credit is due, props to Buds for offering this beauty at the best price, and for having it in stock at the time of my online order. This is my third purchase from them and they are the goods, especially if you choose to join their VIP program. Buying from them is painless and they do a fantastic job of making an online purchase reliable and easy. For $20 to my friendly neighborhood FFL I received this only a few days after it was ordered. Kimber doesn't disappoint either. I love the Ultra Covert II looks. It stands out on the range and has started many conversations with others who appreciate a well made handgun. This pistol was exactly what it was said to be, a top of the line sub-compact 1911 with a ton of built in upgrades and carry features. It comes right out of Kimber's Custom Shop and does not disappoint. I love the carry melt finish. The Crimson Trace grips are a flawless addition as are the Meprolight night sights. On the range I shoots tight and true. It has just enough weight to handle the .45 load, but it is still very comfortable as an all day concealed carry. I have not experienced any failure to feed or fire issue through the first 500 of break-in or thereafter, even with basic no-frills target ammo. This will be the one pistol in my collection that will still be in great condition when I hand it down to my son.

I really love this gun, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a .45 that you can carry easily and comfortably. It's hefty, but with the right rig, you forget about it very quickly. The 7 round mag is enough for me, and probably for you too. When you first pick up this little puppy, you notice that the fit and finish are excellent, and it slips easily into a jacket pocket. Shooting the gun is great fun. It's very accurate, and I have run several hundred rounds through it. Each time, I was impressed with 1.5 - 2.0 in groups, (Shot at 15 - 25 yds) and you will ocassionally get the stray, not because of the gun, but because of limp wristing. I did have one hang on me while initially putting one into the chamber, but I believe this was because I just used the slide release, without racking. When I racked, I had no feed problems whatsoever. Takedown is pretty simple, but a word of caution, The slide stop is extremely stiff. It comes out easily, but it takes some practice to get it put back just right. On my first try, I put a nice little nick on the side of the gun, to remind me not to do that again..! No biggie, but the gun is not cheap, and it was bothersome. Make sure you line up the reassembly notch EXACTLY right, and you should have no trouble. The price I thought, was a bit high. A couple of hundred dollars cheaper would have really been better, but I can't complain as this was the first KIMBER I bought. All in all, an extremely accurate, very nice carry pistol. With the integrated Crimson Trace laser grips, carry meld design and the Tritium night sights you will have one very easy- to- find and very accurate to shoot .45 Caliber defense piece.
