This gun was a realistic GI style with a few updates. Accuracy of mine was better than I expect from a GI. About 3" at 15 yds if I remember right. Had rare FTF's. Those seemed to go away over time. Fit was pretty good, but there was a fair amount of internal and external rough machining. Ok for the money, but I wanted nicer.

I bought this gun about 6 months ago. Great gun for the money. Well built and runs great with the factory mag. Seems to feed the hollowpoints I use (Federal HST). I do get hangups using my other mags (chip mccormick and wilson combat). 1911s can be picky with magazines though. I'll be buying more of the original mecgar mags. I don't carry this gun, so I'm not that worried about 100% reliability. The finish is good, but the colors don't quite match on the slide and frame which seems to be normal for Armscor 1911s. When I bought mine it came with wood grips and shot a foot low at 15yds. Trigger is good. Frame/slide fit is good and is smooth no binding. Overall a good gun, I just wish my other 1911 mags worked better with it. Oh well not a big deal. I just ordered a 9mm 1911 from Armscor/Citadel and I hope it will be as good a this .45.

For the price this is a great pistol. I have owned mine for a year now and after 500 hundred + rounds I have not had any malfunctions. This is a well made firearm, if you are looking for an entry level 1911 you will not be disappointed. The service from Buds was also great, thank you for your courtesy and professionalism.

I purchased this gun early this year for $333 shipped. It was ~$70 off of the normal price. All I have to say is WOW. This gun - while not perfect from a finish and grip standpoint - is an amazing deal even at full price. I had some stovepipes over the first 250 rounds, but RIA states that (I think) 300 rounds is the break in time. It feeds well with the factory mag and with Shooting Star magazines. I have had one FTE with a steel cased Tula ammunition after break-in but everything else has shot fine. The gun shot low out of the box, and while I called RIA and they were willing to ship gun back to them for re-sighting, I just filed the front sight down with a jewelers file - I didn't want to waste their time and it shoots dead on with Federal ball, Tula ball, Herters ball, and Prvi ball - 230 grain. The trigger has a nice, clean, break and good reset for a budget gun. I shoot bowling pin matches with this gun and while combat sights aren't fancy, I have done quite well with it. I have no desire to modify it in any way. Also, after 600 rounds, I've seen no abnormal wear. Accuracy wise the gun is capable (in my hands) of 2-3" groups (without a rest) @ 15 yards. I'm sure with better sights, or a better hand, it would be a very accurate gun. On the negative side, the gun shows some machining marks and has a rather rough coating. The grips are basic - but that's what you get with the GI model. You will see the hammer will peen against the dovetail, but that can be common with some 1911's. Five stars is hard to come by, but FOR THE PRICE, this is a great purchase - so far.

I wanted a 1911. That said, I didn't want to pay $1200+ for a weapon that was going to be a "working" gun. I wanted something that was accurate (hit center mass or place a head shot at 15 - 25 yrds), was inexpensive enough not to worry about taking it into the bush with all the abuse that entails, and finally something that had large stopping power and with which I can unload 5 - 8 rounds in short order. Again, I wasn't looking for a high dollar weapon or collectors item when I bought it. And this weapon is certainly not that but, the RIA 1911 is a very functional, reliable weapon that will eat any 45 ACP ammo I feed it, and I mean anything. It has taken quite the abuse and yet, I have never experienced one Failure to Fire, Feed, etc. It's not pretty but, it goes bang every time. I bought it over 1 year ago from Buds (can't say enough about Buds great prices and fast service) for $409 and, it totally fits my requirements. Your mileage may vary but, for me, I have to say it's my go to handgun.
