JUST received my RIA a few minutes ago. I had to leave it at the FFL for their gunsmith to fix a manufacturing error. The lower screw for the right side grip was just spinning...the die was too large for the hole they drilled so the threads on the screw weren\'t catching. It was noticed when I was swapping out the wood grips for the rubber grips while standing at the counter. My FFL is my \"home\" range and delivery point. Additionally, the slide release is WAYYYYYY too forward on the gun. I have large hands and still couldn\'t reach it comfortably....thus I am having them put a longer slide release. Other than those 2 things the gun looked great, the action and slide itself not bad at all. Bud\'s had nothing to do with this, and their record for speedy delivery and customer service is flawless. For the price of the gun, I kind of anticipated something to go amiss, and thankfully the costs to correct it are nominal. Would I buy another Rock Island? Probably. I will know to be more diligent on the features, and not so concerned about the difference in price to go to the next level. A lot of my friends are avid .45 carriers and shooters. Most every one of them has done mods on them, so I just chalk it up to doing the same.

Incredible 1911 for the money! Wow... If you are a "southpaw" like me and want the ambidextrous thumb safety, then look no further. This is an amazing .45ACP and comes with a single 8 round magazine. (Bonus - mine came with wood grips installed and a spare set of rubber grips!). The fit and feel of the Rock Island Armory 1911FS (51431) is solid and very well made. I can't believe the price that Bud's Gun Shop sells it for! I jumped at the chance to get another 1911 after many years. Bud's also ships really quick too, straight to your local FFL dealer in town. I can't wait break it in at the indoor range this weekend! It will take me back to USCG bootcamp back in 1979 when I was an 18 yr old punk kid right out of high school! In a nutshell: If you are in the market for a very well made and yet inexpensive 1911, then order this one from Bud's Gun Shop. You won't be disappointed!

I bought this 1911 as an into to the platform. This is my first 1911 but I\'ve been around firearms for years. I\'ve had this RIA for about a month and put 250 rounds through of various ammo. This has eaten FMJ, hollow points, P. The sights are garbage, I\'ve painted them white for now, but plan on replacing them. The trigger is a crisp 4 lbs and has a smooth reset without a long draw. I\'m pleased with the trigger and it\'s much better than I originally expected. The overall fit and finish is pretty good. Out of the box was quite oily, but that\'s how they all come. After a good cleaning and lube job I was pleased with the fit and finish internally and externally. Comes with one ACT-MAG, rubber grips and wood grips and in a standard plastic case lined with padded foam.. I can\'t speak to the stock grips because I already had a different set purchased and put on. Took about 6 business days for buds to ship, but still within their prescribed time frame. I am torn between 4 and 5 stars because of the sights which are all black ( front and rear). Giving four stars strictly because of the sights. All other aspects of this pistol are great especially as an intro 1911 under 500 bucks.

For a first time gun owner I had to get a 1911 and it had to be .45 and FS. But i did not want to spend almost 1000 on one. I found this 1911 from RIA on the site. It was what i was looking for. The gun looked great all black and at a great price all together it was 492. Ordered the gun on Friday and it arrived at my local gun shop on Wednesday of the next week. The gun come with wood grips and non wood grips, One mag would have thought it would come with 2 but it's okay. Also came with 2 test shots to show that it does shoot. The gun comes in a good case for the gun. It was in a type of plastic bag when I first opened it. The gun was very well oiled personally I think it was a little bit too much oil but maybe that is normal but to me it was. I have putt 150 rounds through it this weekend with only two misfeeds. I have not taken it apart yet but that is my next step. But for a first gun i can not be happier with this gun. PROS .45 1911FS Under 500 dollars Fast delivery CONS Does not come with two mags

I initially had problems right out of the box but I sent it back to Rock Island Armory in Pahrump and when I got it back, it performs flawlessly. Awesome Firearm and worth the short trip it took to Nevada to get it perfect. Buds was awesome as usual. For the money you can't beat it for a quality 1911

I received the RIA Rock standard 1911 promptly after ordering. The Rock standard 1911 is, ascetically, a well made gun, but not perfect. The finish is beautiful and the wood grips are plain but nice, while the polish on the barrel and guide rod is merely serviceable. Nothing is wrong ascetically that a little time with the dremel and some very fine polish can\'t spruce up. Mechanically it has worked wonderfully so far. I have taken it to the range twice and each time fed 100 rnds of Sellier and Bellot 230gr FMJ with the only problem being one failure to feed the last round in a magazine after about 50 rnds on the second day. That issue only required me to pull the slide back and let it fall forward into battery to keep on trucking. I am very pleased with this purchase, especially with the price, and can\'t recommend this pistol enough to those looking for an entry level 1911. For those who are purchasing their first 1911, or actually anyone who might want a list of tests to perform before excepting the transfer, I recommend searching the web for \'1911 Pistol Inspection Checklist\' and printing out the pdf you find. Remember, no matter who the manufacturer is it\'s always possible to end up with a Monday or Friday gun.
