I just recently purchased (April 2014) this gun and was able to get to the range to try it. It performed excellently with 200 rounds and once I got used to the sights, I was able to put up some nice groupings and I am not a marksman by any means. I used the original magazine and had purchased a couple more online and all three functioned properly and left the gun slide locked open after last round.
Considering this is only the second gun I have shot (my first being a Sig Sauer P226 9mm), I enjoyed shooting it and did not have any jams, etc. It is the first gun my 12 year old son has shot and he loved it! (Video games being no comparison!)
Although Buds uses a picture of the gun on the website with the wood grips, my gun came with rubber grips! I was very happy when I opened the RIA gun case and it didn't have the over sized wood grips. I also like the extended beaver tail for a better grip and to keep my hand away from the slide.
After owning the Sig, there are only two drawbacks to this gun. One is that it does not have a decocking lever but as far as I've seen, 1911's never come with one. Second, the sights are not marked for night vision in any way.
This gun is definitely a very good buy for a .45 to have for home defense and the range, especially if you don't want to put out a $1,000 or so for a gun.
Buds costumer service was very good as was the local FFL that I had used! I will definitely be looking at this website for future gun purchases.
