This was my first purchase with Bud's and was a little shocked to find that the low price listed was not available with a credit card purchase, which is how most people do most purchasing on the internet. It was a "cash" price, but I was NOT sending that much cash in the mail. I had to do some other kind of payment (I forget the exact details) and it took a week for the payment to be processed, then a few more days to ship, then a week to reach me. I later found the exact same gun at a local shop for the same low price and realized I could have had it weeks sooner and not had to pay the FFL fee. The shopping and buying process should have been smoother and faster. This gun is an incredible bargain, and a great way to get into the world of 1911 45 ACP. This gun can be a platform to upgrade and customize it to have whatever detail you like. Like all others it was slathered in a shipping grease so I cleaned it thoroughly before the range trip. The gun shot 3 boxes of Winchester White box flawlessly, but was consistently left of the target center. I am a fairly experience shooter and knew it was the gun. After a sight adjustment and another range trip the gun shots right on target. I tend to shoot my targets int he 15-20 yard range. Im sure it would be near perfect at the 7 yard range that some other reviewers reference. The gun was shipped with the newer rubber grips and they WAY nicer than the wood grips would have been. I would think that Buds could easily put up an updated photo to let the customer know what to expect. As a right handed shooter I have no need for the large ambi thumbs safety and that will also likely be a future modification. The trigger is smooth and light enough, but I find the edges to be a little sharp on my finger. I would think a design with a little bit more rounded edges would be more comfortable for extended shooting sessions, but with the price of ammo, who can really afford all day shooting anyway? Maybe some day I'll take a file or dremel tool to it to ease the sharpness a bit. The mag that come with the gun is OK, but I have purchased an aftermarket one locally that I like better. The parkerized finish is rather poor and already showing a few scuffs that probably wont come out, but that is not a huge deal for me. For the price of this gun, my expectations were realistic. I wanted a gun that worked great, with great features and looked pretty good. This is not a show piece. I did add a couple of white dots on the sights using white finger nail polish (.99 value) and I am very happy with this gun. It is a little too heavy for a daily carry gun, but I have others for that. All in all I am completely happy with this gun and have suggested it to all of my gun enthusiast friends.

Right out of the box-flawless! 50 roubds of FMJ 230 grain Remington and no FTF or FTE's. Sight was dead on as well. This is an awesome piece of weaponry. I have heard negative over RIA Armscor customer service being slow or unresponsive but the 1911 is perfect. Highly recommend for the price, the Kimber or Colt snobs can't deny the accuracy and dependability of this weapon.

I ordered this rock island armory after looking around for a 1911.I have to say I couldn't be happier with this gun.I will tell you that the first 10 rounds didn't go perfectly right out of the box,but after that, she was flawless. She does shoot a little low though but not that low.The shipping was a little slow and the updates were not up to date, but hey,I saved a hell of a lot off retail dealing with Bud's.Also, the guide rod is full length so the spring cap(if that's what you call it)doesn't have a cap on it.Thank you bud's!!

I just recently purchased (April 2014) this gun and was able to get to the range to try it. It performed excellently with 200 rounds and once I got used to the sights, I was able to put up some nice groupings and I am not a marksman by any means. I used the original magazine and had purchased a couple more online and all three functioned properly and left the gun slide locked open after last round. Considering this is only the second gun I have shot (my first being a Sig Sauer P226 9mm), I enjoyed shooting it and did not have any jams, etc. It is the first gun my 12 year old son has shot and he loved it! (Video games being no comparison!) Although Buds uses a picture of the gun on the website with the wood grips, my gun came with rubber grips! I was very happy when I opened the RIA gun case and it didn't have the over sized wood grips. I also like the extended beaver tail for a better grip and to keep my hand away from the slide. After owning the Sig, there are only two drawbacks to this gun. One is that it does not have a decocking lever but as far as I've seen, 1911's never come with one. Second, the sights are not marked for night vision in any way. This gun is definitely a very good buy for a .45 to have for home defense and the range, especially if you don't want to put out a $1,000 or so for a gun. Buds costumer service was very good as was the local FFL that I had used! I will definitely be looking at this website for future gun purchases.

This pistol is superb. You can't beat a 1911 for 450 ish dollars that just plain works. Got it yesterday and went to the range and put 100 rounds through it with no issues at all. It fed Federal 230gr FMJ ammo perfectly fine. The gun did come drenched in oil and is somewhat a pain to get it all cleaned up but it's totally worth it. Mine came with the updated rubber grips instead of the wood grips and the small RIA logo on the rear of the slide instead of the huge billboard on the side which I am completely happy with. I was going to replace the wood grips anyway and either throw them away or use them as kindling for my next bonfire. But now I don't have to worry about it. I absolutely love the look of this gun! It did seem to shoot about 2-3 inches low at 7yds. Could just be me getting used to the sights. Wasn't long though before I was hitting dead center or at least roundabouts. The front blade site is fine in my opinion but I will definitely be looking into a rear sight that can be adjusted for windage and elevation. I will be ordering another RIA 1911 Tactical in 9mm for my wife here soon in the coming weeks. Great product, great feel, great reliability, great look. You won't be disappointed!
