This was my first ever purchased from Buds and I was very happy with both the speed of delivery and the condition in which the gun came. The pistol is absolutely beautiful. Who says you have to pay a fortune for a nice 45 auto (a 1911 at that!). After unboxing it and inspecting it, the only thing was that it came sort of soaked in that oil or cosmoline or whatever it is to preserve it from rusting. But a Remington gun cloth later and it was perfect. I have to get used to the whole "you can only put the safety on when it's cocked" thing but other than that, it's an awesome gun for an awesome price. I'm a Buds Gunshop fan for life now. I haven't taken it to the range yet but I will soon and hopefully I can come back and give everyone an update. Heck, I might even make a YouTube vid for this one! If you're thinking of purchasing this firearm, do so without reservation. You won't be sorry!

I was looking for a 45 in 1911 with a short barrel for carrying concealed.I simply cannot afford the higher end guns, but still wanted quality and reliability with affordability. Hadn't heard of Rock Island Armory before, until seeing it on Bud's for $440. The overwhelmingly positive reviews made me do more research that in the end convinced me that the 3.5 barrel was just what I want. Many pass because they fear the 'billboard' advertisement of the RIA logo. Like others, mine didn't have it. Just a small logo above the safety. Other reviewers comment on the utter oily mess upon receiving the gun. YUP, you'll probably get it. I only wiped mine down, headed to the range, and put 50rds down the lane with no jams at all. Only problem I had was my other magazines that didn't work in it (Pro-Mag). The Armscor mag worked, as well as my Mec-Gar and Tisas mags. I will experiment with others. The fixed GI sights are not as bad as I thought they might be. Surprisingly, Bud's service was slow this time around, though they shipped it on the 7th day of their stated 3-7 shipping window.

Great little gun. This is my first order form Bud's online, will not be my last. I really like the gun, you cannot beat the bang for the buck. I have been looking to purchase a compact 1911 for a project gun; I am pleased with it so far. I have ran about 100 rounds through it at the range without a single FTE or FTF, it has worked flawlessly so far. I plan on putting at least 500 through it before I carry it, but if it continues to operate at the level of efficiency; it will be what I carry for a long time. One more note, the gun pictured is not exactly what I received, the received gun only has the RIA logo discreetly located on the rear of the slide, not plastered bill board style on the whole slide; definitely a nice bonus.

Right out of the box, with only a wipe down from a rage to remove excess oil and grease this pistol ate 200 rounds of FMJ like a chocoholic goes through Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. No FTF's, stovepipes or FTE's. Will be buy more RIA's in the future.

The RIA Compact m1911 I received from bud's arrived in fine shape. It was well packaged like all the firearms that I've purchased from Bud's have been and it arrived in the blink of an eye from the date of order. After 300 rounds it lives up to all its hype and billing as a good addition to your carry inventory as well as for home defense. It's good crisp hand feel...ease of operation and eye appeal makes this a proud member of the line known at m1911.

Bud's always offers a smooth transaction...price, updates and shipping! Thank you! This is my first Rock Island 1911. I unboxed it at the range, cleaned it up and put 50 rounds through it. Every shot was placed where I wanted it, no issues with the function of the gun. You can tell by handling and field stripping the gun that it's a very well made piece. I like the finish and the stock wood grips. For me, this is a gun that I will keep, carry and pass along to my son.
