When I received the DoubleStar 1911 without rail, I noticed that its magazine was badly scratched on the left side; when I took it to the range I fired one magazine but when I reloaded the magazine I found that it would not stay in the magazine well - the magazine release was locked in the "release" position (this explained the scratches on the magazine) and I had to use a small screwdriver to adjust the magazine release to return to the locked position - this problem happened repeatedly, making the gun essentially unusable. I called DoubleStar and they sent me a return mailing label. After a week I called DoubleStar and learned that they had replaced both the magazine and magazine release. When I got the gun back, I detail stripped it to clean and lubricate it - and discovered that one of the stock screw bushings had not been staked in place and it came out with the screw when I removed the stock. All in all this has been a very disappointing performance for a "combat" handgun at this price point. I doubt that DoubleStar will issue another return mailing label as I had to argue with them to get the first one issued (apparently their policy is to have the customer pay for shipping a problem gun back to them - even during the warranty period), so I will have to have my local gunsmith deal with this problem. I really can't recommend DoubleStar's 1911 handguns based on my experiences with them; it seems that their quality control is not reliable. Caveat Emptor!

Excellent gun! 300+ rounds not a single problem. Good solid lock up, no rattle, great fit and finish. Very accurate. Great value for the price!
