Although it may not be as 'polished' as more expensive guns, it actually is more reliable than another 1911 that I own that is twice the cost! This firearm after 8 months of ownership has operated flawlessly in more than 500 rounds of not only ball but hollow points as well!

The RIA 51482 is a great deal. Parkerized finish could be improved - I would be willing to pay more for a Duracoat or Cercoat finish. One note - compared the finish to a Springfield Loaded 1911 and the RIA parkerized finish is almost as good so perhaps I am being too picky about that. I had some problems with one FTF each mag for the first 350 rounds but no issues with the last 150 rds after that so I assume it just needed to be broken in. RIA service is awesome. Recoil seemed to be excessive compared to my son's Kimber and other steel framed 1911's I have shot prior to purchase. I contacted Ivan at RIA and they sent a new Wolf recoil spring immediately. Problem solved, My son and I both shot the RIA and Kimber last week - recoil is just as soft as his Kimber now. I am pleased that I bought the RIA and I can understand why these pistols have such a great following. Final note : purchased Wilson Combat 47D mags and they are awesome.

This Rock Island is an outstanding value, with very light & crips trigger, nice factory rubber panel grips, Meprolight night sights, full-length dustcover with long light rail; overall this 1911 offers excellent "bang for thre buck". I would recommend a Smith & Alexander magwell & VZ grips (Operator or Alien are my favorite styles) with Rock Island safety cut & left side thumb notch. With these modest upgrades, you'll have a very formidable firearm for a budget price. This one SHOOTS GREAT!!!. TWO THUMBS UP!!!

All in all, price is amazing for a 1911 with as many extras as it has. First time at the range put 10 mags through it of different FMJ and JHP and not one problem. Recoil was surprisingly minimal compared to the other Rock Island 45 I have and was very easy to to snap back on target. The black grips it come with aren't bad but I heard good things about Magpul's 1911 grips and they compliment the pistol very well. Once again Bud's reaffirmed why they're the only gunstore I do business with. Thank's everyone!

Perfect group, center mass on the shoot n' c target right out of the case. Great 1911 for the money!

Bud's price on this railed Rock Island 1911 was too low to pass up. I owned one of these pistols before, but sold it (big mistake). That one didn't have night sights, but this one does (they glow very brightly, too). I got this pistol for less than I paid for the other one several years ago. Excellent deal. The fit is phenomenal and the finish is terrific. The wood grips have not-too-aggressive checkering and look nice. I'm not a big fan of full length guide rods, but at least this one is one piece, and it's no problem to disassemble the pistol without tools. First trip to the range was on a very cold, windy day, but the pistol ran perfectly and easily shot 5-round ragged hole groups at 15 yards. Knocking down the steel plates at 25 yards and even hitting a few 4X4 targets at 40 yards was no problem when I did my part. The pistol is plenty accurate. No failures of any kind. Hard to beat this deal. After a bunch more failure-free rounds, this one may end up beside my bed.
