This is a great little gun for the money. It has gotten some questionable reviews, but I think that due to over expectation. People realize this is a $120 dollar gun, $170 if you buy the range kit. That being said, it is AMERICAN made, and has a lifetime warranty. You can't say that about your $600+ XDM! It shoots great, and spot on target out of the box. I got the Nickel finish and love it. Fit and finish is pretty great, I am impressed with the attention to detail. It is a little heavier than I expected, but I'm ok with that. Safeties, yeah it has a few. If you don't like safeties there are plenty of how-to's on fixing that, not that I condone those actions. Those that challenge a 22LR for self defense, well they need to go back and learn how to shoot. It's not the size of the horse in the race, yet the size of the race in the horse. Buy this gun, you will not be disappointed.

I haven't shot the HP22 yet. I will soon I hope. This was the first gun puchase I have made. Enjoyable purchase. Thanks

Pretty good target and critter pistol. Great price and quick shipping from Bud%u2019s. I would have rated this pistol higher if not for 2 problems. #1 The slide will not operate unless there is a magazine in place and the safety is off. So I you have a round in the chamber, with a full mag - in order to clear the chamber you have to drop the mag, completely unload it, pop it back in, move the safety off and hope you don%u2019t accidentally hit the trigger while pulling the slide back to eject the round. #2. I found it difficult to disassemble and change barrels. First the break down lever is cheap and difficult to slide, secondly the slide spring pops out easily during reassembly and difficult to keep in place. My first one %u201Claunched%u201D itself a few times and got lost, so I had to order new springs to reassemble the pistol after changing barrels.

Fabulous gun for the money. Probably fabulous at any price. Fires flawlessly, comfortable to hold and aim and simple to clean and switch barrels. A good gun at double the price.

I do not regret buying the HP22, the safety\'s are kind of a pain in the ass. but if you look around on the web, there are ways to go around them or disable them.....But the thing goes bang all the time, and every time, forgot what kind of ammo I used, it was meant at the time as a tool box gun, does not look refined in any way, but it was cheap and shoots every time, fairly accurate also. No complaints, for the money, 5 stars

There are many HP22A reviews online, along with many youtube videos. Its a nice 22LR pistol for the price. My kit came with the longer barrel, cleaning tools, oil, earplugs, etc, etc; its all in the selling description. These accessories are held securely inside the case during transport and would be difficult to get into without the key. Its hard to see in the photos, but there is an additional lock that can be inserted into the pistol grip after removing the magazine. The case key is needed to remove this device. I always hide the ammo and put this extra safety device in place when the grandkids are coming over. One other suggestion... watch the available Youtube videos on barrel switching. The recoil spring is under the barrel and will pop out and go across the room at high speed unless you use "proper" procedure. My rating 5 stars... enjoy.
