As always, Buds is awesome!!! Great products, quick service, they truely Rock!!! OK, S&W 629-6 3" 44 Spl/44 Mag DeLux TALO arrived today and is Very Very Nice!!! Lighter than I thought!!! Was on lay a way for little while but as soon as paid in full Buds got it to me Fast! I have a lot in common with O'l hickock45 in our love of and types of Revolvers, and I wish I got this a long time ago! Top Drawer as usual with S&W Revolvers, fit, finish, sights, grips, etc are great. Weapon seems lighter than expected. Handles all factory loads I have fed it so far from Hornandy 165gr 44 spl to Garrets 330gr 44 Mag. Yes the Bigger rounds kick more in this 3" bbl. Don't do it if you think a 44 kicks anyway... Bottom Line: LIFE IS GOOD!!!

Awesome revolver. Gets lots of attention at the range with heavy loads due to the 3 inch barrel and the might fire ball. As pretty as the grips are, they suck. No grip what so ever. I put some squishy pachmayr grips on and they feel great. Love it!

S&W did a wonderful job on this revolver. It appeared a bit dirty when it arrived. I know they are test fired at the factory, I do not know what Talo does with them; if they test fire them too. Part of that issue was the appearance of the matt SS finish I think. I would not call it dull, but not bright chrome by any means. Feels like it comes with a free $250 trigger job. It rocks in double action. Shooting PMC 180 grain JHP specials I can hit an area about the size of a silver dollar at 25 feet in a reasonably fast pace. The trigger is exceptionally smooth and I can still tell when each aspect of the revolver locks up and readies to fire if I do my job and really squeeze extremely, extremely slow. Some of that is from understanding what the revolver is doing inside as you fire it. The weight of the revolver is excellent and the sights are dead on out of the box. Holding a sight picture while DA firing is very easy, even with my progressive lenses eye glasses. All in all, very positive, give it 5 stars, would even go 6 if I could.

Unfortunately, the revolver itself turned out to be a lemon. On my first trip to the range, I fired a total of 13 rounds out of the gun and then it broke. The cylinder just stopped rotating. It did not matter whether the revolver was operated in either single or double-action mode, the cylinder would no longer turn and bring up a fresh round. Note that I was using mid-pressure factory ammo at the time. Pressure levels would have been well within SAAMI specifications. Therefore, the breakage WAS NOT related to the use of improper or over-pressure ammo. It must be a factory defect of some kind. I have contacted Smith and Wesson about the problem. They are supposed to send me a shipping label to return the gun to the factory for repair. However, it is a diappointment to order a gun from a top manufacturer and have it break on day one. I guess even S&W makes a lemon from time to time but, based upon my experience, I cannot recommend this model.

Excellent handgun! Fit and finish almost as good as some of my older S&W’s from ‘60’s. Gun is heavy (as to be expected) but makes recoil very manageable. If you are looking for a short barrel wheel gun as effective as a .45 but with the versatility of the .44 mag. It is worth the investment.
