Just for the record, I never like to write a review, but I had to make an exception this time. I was torn between this rifle and the Ruger 10/22; however since I am not an avid .22lr user I felt the Marlin is the best choice for the price. I took it to the range and almost used up a box of 333 rds with the help of a buddy and had no issues. I recently paid $145 for the rifle, $19.95 for a cheap bipod and $39.99 for a scope. I have a little over $220 invested in the rifle and it fit all my needs. Great rifle and I also have to say that this is the third time I have ordered from Buds and they seem to get faster and faster on shipping. Buds is the best!

Picked up my Marlin 795 from Buds on Thursday and took it to the range for the first time today. Great rifle! Smooth operation and the auto load feature is awesome. After 15 minutes getting an older scope on target it I was able to put round after round near center. A little more adjusting and it should be right on the mark. Love this gun. Had a Marlin 75 that I bought in 1971 that was super accurate and I knew that this one would follow suite. There is nothing "cheap" about this gun. Its comfortable in hand and has an attractive finish. Great transaction with Buds as well!

Buds did a great job, getting the 795 to my local FFL dealer. Ordered on Friday, and he had it on Monday. They should take great pride in how they operate. Four stars though. Not that it's Buds fault. But my 795 had a pretty good ding, on the front sight. Didn't affect how it shot. But needed to put some Vans blueing on it, just to keep it from rusting. Shot like a dream!!! Will continue to buy from Buds from now on! Several more purchases, in the future.

The Marlin 795 .22lr is an excellent value. I’ve been using this gun for about four months now and it has been a joy to use. The gun is your standard semi-automatic .22lr. There is nothing special about it. It just does what it’s supposed to do. It is consistently reliable and extremely accurate. The gun accepts a wide variety of magazines. Marlin sells approved 7 and 10 bullet magazines. Other manufacturers sell 25 banana clips and even 75 round cylinder magazines. The barrel is not threaded. Unlike the Ruger 10/22, you can’t attach a silencer or other modifications. That’s okay for me. I live in a state that prohibits such modifications. Other people may want a Ruger if they plan on heavily modifying their .22lr. I attached a 3-9x40mm Bushnell scope onto the gun. It’s extremely accurate (sub 1” MOA) within 25-50 yards. After about 70 yards there is considerable drop. This isn’t surprising considering that’s just the ballistics of a .22lr round. This gun is great for target shooting and hunting under 70 yards. After 70 yards the gun is still accurate but you have to be willing to adjust to the considerable drop. For instance, this gun would still be fine for hunting at 100-150 yards but you would have to have considerable practice to gauge the drop. The gun is not 100% reliable. Out of every 20 rounds there are 1-2 FTFs. I’ve gone through about 700 rounds of various Aguila ammunition. It may be the ammunition. Or, it may just be the nature of using rimfired ammunition. I’m not sure. This gun is fine for plinking and hunting but I wouldn’t use it for home defense or anything else that must be 100% reliable.

Bought these for my boys and the shoot great and well worth the money. You can even get bigger magazines for the rifles too. Great service from buds and price can't be beat.
