I had been looking for a Marlin guide gun for awhile that was priced reasonably. After almost a month of looking I found 4 different stores offering this rifle. Two of them were charging premium prices well over Bud's price and one was slightly below. The factor that steered me to Buds was the super easy purchasing process. Directions were quite clear plus they had listed my FFL dealer as someone Bud's had work with before. Buds took it from there as I just sat back and waited about a week to recieve my firearm. I was able to track my firearm right up to my local dealer's front and called me as I was already driving to pick up my rifle. Unfortunately due to bad weather I have not had a chance to fire the rifle but this weekend the weatherman is forecasting temps in the low 60's for the midwest.

The marlin 45-70 that I purchased was in great condition. I took it to the range right away and put 40 rounds through it without any issues. The gun likes lighter loads and seems to be more accurate if I stick to them. A 300gr rounds seemed to work well but also took the 405gr rounds like a champ.......but at the expense of my shoulder. I hear Marlin is currently hit or miss with quality due to Remington taking over, but I was pleased with the one I recieved

My experience with BUDS met and exceeded my expectations. I ordered a Marlin 1895G in 45-70 at a really great price. I was able to utilize Buds layaway program and upon full payment my rifle was promptly shipped to my FFL. All told I paid it off on Tues, and picked it up on Saturday. My purchase was in excellent condition, both fit and finish, mechanically and cosmetically sound. I'd feel comfortable and confident using Buds Gun shop again. My feeling was if Hickock 45 likes em, I'll give em a try. I'm not sorry I did. Thanks again Buds and to Hickok 45. regards, Gerard Zimmermann, Homewood, Il.

Yes, I purchased a new Marlin 1895G 45-70 from Bud's Gun Store, and I am very happy with it. The craftsmanship and overcall quality are outstanding. I have waited a long time for this gun, and I am not disappointed. The price seemed very fair, and dealing on line with the gun store was very easy and conducted efficiently. My gun was shipped as promised and received by the Federal Firearms Licencee in my town on time and in good shape. I would not hesitate to order other fire arms products from Bud's. About the gun: the sights as shipped are more than adequate. However, in some light conditions I have a hard time seeing the front sight. Therefore, I am installing a XS Sights, Lever Rail Ghost Ring designed for the Marlin 1895. I also have a Firefield, red dot, impact mini reflex sight that fits on the XS lever rail. I would have preferred a Leopold (9") 6 x 28 scope, but have been unable to locate one. So far, I have fired 40 rounds with the original sights and was surprised at the minimal recoil and the hand held accuracy. And at 75 yards with a bench rest, it is in the bullseye every shot. I was amazed. I should mention I am shooting outdoors at my cabin in northern Minnesota where there is two feet of snow and the daytime temperatures range from -20* to +20* . I neglected to mention, I am using #Hornaday, LeverEvolution 45-70 Govt 250 gr monoflex and 325 gr FTX ammo.
