Buds service top rated bottom floor plate front screw can’t be started until side screw is in 20 percent. Then both together the side screw hole is off about a 1/16 so I’m telling everyone don’t waste a dollar on a Remington produced ruger maybe even better quality than old marlin made second put ranger point parts in them get rid of the plastic plug with the ranger point in the 1894 they make a hardened and re-engineered firing pin outstanding quality again buds service no complaints

Product delivery time was excellent. Product value was good. Performance of product was above expectations. Less kick than expected and perfect for personal bear repellent either by noise or knock down power. This is my go to guide gun.

My marlin came with the front sight offset to the left. It almost looks like a bad factory defect, and should definitely not have been sent out in the first place.

Great rifle. Dropped a hog at 100 yards right in her tracks. Fun to shoot as well. Buds is great as usual. You won’t regret this purchase.

My 45-70 was everything I expected. The shipping was fast and arrived in top condition. I will definitely buy from BGS again.

Bud's, as usual, shipped my new rifle promptly. Opening the packing carton, I couldn't find the hammer spur. Not quite the end of the world. A call to Marlin sort of solved that, but the rep said hammer spurs are back ordered up to two months. That's fine. Taking the rifle to the range, I could fire two rounds before the action seemed to jam up tight. Upon removing the stock, a rather large chunk of wood fell on the shooting bench. That's what jammed the action. Another call to Marlin got me a promise that they would send me a new stock, but it too was back ordered up to two months. I don't fault Marlin for a glitch in their shipping department or for a wood flaw waiting to break, but before Remington acquired Marlin parts were shipped immediately. Did Remington's top brass decide Marlin had too much inventory on hand?

Awesome lever action. Buds had the cheapest piece I seen online and had it in my hand same week.

Rifle looked nice when I inspected it at my FFL dealer. A couple days after I had it I took it apart to clean it. The finish on the lever that inserts into the receiver was badly discolored. Also the screws that must be removed for disassembly were hard to unscrew almost like the threads were not tapped correctly. Sent Marlin a picture of the discolored lever, and mentioned the screws. The man that helped me actually became angry that the rifle had gone out the door like that (after seeing the picture I sent). He asked my to pack it up and UPS would come get it and take it back the factory to show upper management and repair or replace it. Again he was really teed off that it went out the door like that. It has been in their hands for a couple days now. I'm sure Marlin will make it right. Kind of frustrating. You hear about people buying brand new firearms and having to ship them back right away. Never thought about it happening to me but it did.

Unfortunately this was defiantly a Remington product. Can not believe how bad it is compared to my old Marlins. Sent it back to Remington the day after I got it. Front sight hood flies off every shot. This has never happened on any of my old marlins. Every part on this thing is now cast that they can get away with. Even the the bolt locking block and the cartridge lifter. But the biggest problem is they can not even figure out what side of the screw hole for the hand lever needs to be countersunk. They latterly counter sunk both sides of mine! So all the threads but about the last two revolutions of the screw just stick out the other side inside a pointless countersink. Very sad. We will see what they do to fix it and how long it takes. I sure hope they can get things turned around. As usual buds was great! With super fast service!!

Received the Marlin guide gun from buds... service was great. The rifle is beautiful, works flawlessly to this point.

This gun is pretty awesome. Small and compact which is good for the thick brush, especially here in Florida where it can get quite thick sometimes. The weight is great and it fires and cycles like a champ. Powerful as well. When it kicks you will remember it, but its nothing that can't be handled by most people. I shot my shotgun shortlly after this .45-70 and would have to say the .45-70 kicks harder than a 12 ga 2 3/4 in target shell but much softer than a 3 in magnum turkey load in the same 12ga. Just to give you an idea of the level of kick. Essentially, if you can shoot a 12 ga you can shoot a .45-70. As far as accuracy goes, it definitely shoots straight at 50 and 100 yards (as far as i've shot it). But out of the box it took a little zeroing for me. It was low and to the right but after some zeroing it was spot on. As far as cons, there were a few but nothing major or unfixable by any means: - there were some metal shavings in the receiver which needed to be cleaned out throughly - where they tapped one of the scope screwholes there was some jagged metal sticking out into the inside of the receiver I had to chisel out as it was causing the bolt to hang up occasionally out of the box - the loading gate is super tight so be prepared to scrape your fingers up until that breaks in and softens up. makes loading more difficult but not terrible. - The hood over the front sight post flew off while shooting at the range, was never able to find it but was a little bummed that it happened as that probably shouldn't Overall though, the gun is great. Even if it was a bit rough out of the box it looks beautiful, shoots beautiful, and performs. I love it and intend on shooting it often.

Remington Finally got it right! The fit and finish is perfect,action is smooth,trigger feels like only 4lbs or so,no tool marks or scratches,wood is Flawless,If you were waiting for Remington to get there QC under control before buying one of these,now is the time!
