I'd been wanting this pistol for a long time. Finally, I bit the bullet (see what I did there?) and ordered from Buds (of course). Oh man, what a sweet piece. I've fired a lot of nice pistols in my day, but this is my favorite. Very tight fit and finish. My first seven rounds at ten yards yielded a nice three-inch group, center mass. So far, I've put about 500 rounds through it and still have not had a single FTF, FTE, etc! If you're on the fence about this, stop what you're doing and buy it. You will not be sorry, I promise. Just talking about it has got me in the mood to head to the range! Happy shooting!

I have bought allot of guns from Buds and WILL NOT purchase from any other retailer as I waited 8 days for a long gun at gander mountain after going through a painful customer service experience for 8 long days and two four hour round trips to the store totaling 400 miles at least. My Springfield arrived at my local FFL in two (2) days! No hassle, three miles from my front door steps. Field cleaned her and cycled a couple of magazines through her @15 & 20 yards. FLAWLESS operation and nice tight five inch groups, Springfield was superior in all respects to my new Colt 1911 that I had purchased at the same time, far superior! In fact I just ordered another 1911 Springfield and it is scheduled for deliver today three days after placing my order. Springfield customer service is another one that is unmatched!!! My Colt came in a cheap plastic box & one magazine. My Springfield came with cleaning rod, paddle holster, two extra magazine belt holder well packaged and professionally delivered with the CUSTOMER in mind. Thanks' Buds!

The fact that there is only one review of this pistol is a travesty. It is the BEES-KNEES. Tight fit and finish. Solid construction and parts seem to be far superior to an RIA, as much as I'm a fan of their work as well. Tight groups at 10 and 15 yards; great for a production pistol. GI guide rod eases take down process, though it is slightly more difficult than my RIA and Sig GSR. Trigger is smooth, though I'd want to adjust the uptake. Pull lbs. seem OK. For the weight, it is very well balanced. The only thing the pistol needs (relative from user to user) is a S&A magwell. On top of this, Springfield has the best warranty in the business and a custom shop second to none. If you look online, you will find that the reviews on this pistol are 99 to 1 positive to negative--there are no other production 1911 pistols that come close; Springfield's own Standard Loaded and TRP models have more negative reviews (though only slightly more). I waited 6 mos for this pistol to be back in stock. Got a great deal and, as usual, Bud's service was stellar.

It took a couple months for my Operator to arrive but when it finally came in stock and shipped out I couldn't wait to take it to the range. I was extremely happy with the performance out of the box with this pistol. I put together very tight groups at 21 feet. I think the one thing that has really sold me on this gun is I recently went shooting with some co-workers over our lunch break to have some fun. Another co-worker brought in his Stoeger Cougar 9mm and I brought my Springfield Operator .45. We had one other co-worker who had not shot a pistol in a very long time so he was visibly nervous. When shooting the Stoeger Cougar he was all over the place hitting the target, sometimes even just missing completely. I then let him run 2 mags through my gun and he was instantly shooting very nice groups for someone as un-seasoned as he was. His comments reflected the weight of the pistol as well noting that mine just "felt" nice to hold and returned on target almost naturally. And I have to say I completely agreed when I shot this pistol for the first time. I have also purchased a Stream Light TLR2s tactical light for my pistol which I absolutely love and pairs well with this gun. All said this pistol weighs (loaded mag with 7 FMJ 230g & tactical light) 57oz. It's heavy but I have to tell you it sure doesn't feel heavy. Buy this gun, you will not regret it!
