Buds was great, as always. Will do business with Buds again. On the other hand, the gun is a disaster. FTF with all brands of ammo I tried. Tula just didn't run in this gun, WWB had 1 FTF every 10 rounds, same with federal. I thought the issue could be in the magazine, but i also have a 24/7 G2, and it works great in that gun. I woud not use this for self defense at all. Sending to Taurus to see if they can make it work.

First the positive: This gun looks absolutely bad-ass. A little heavy, but very comfortable, and the weight helps absorb some of that .40 cal kick. Really sweet trigger, smooth as butter even in DA. Shoots anything you feed it with no jams, right out of box. And priced right, too--after getting the free NRA membership from Taurus (worth $35), the net cost to me was just over $300. Now the negative: After the first couple hundred rounds, it developed an issue where the slide would occasionally lock open with rounds still in the mag--not so cool in a self-defense situation (saw another review under the stainless model from a buyer who had the same problem). Also, out of box, it was consistently shooting low. I initially thought it was my own inexperience as a new shooter, but could not correct the problem after shooting 400-500 rounds. Sent it back to Taurus because of this and the slide lock issue. They confirmed the front sight was high and replaced it, fixed the slide stop, and sent it back in a couple weeks. Excellent service except for one detail--Taurus would not pay for shipping as they had in the past. I was told this was a "courtesy" they used to provide but no longer do, and therefore had to foot the bill for shipping myself. If it were not for this, I would have given Taurus an A . And this is the main reason this review is 4 stars instead of 5--because Taurus does not stand behind their product 100% like they used to.

by Webberly A Sunday 10 June, 2012 is the best. I didn't believe the discount on all this brand new pistols until I received my PT 840 in the box in 100% brand new condition. I can't wait until I purchase another gun from Buds. Thanks

Judy updating. As I stated before, the gun is superb. Taurus sent me back two additional clips for the one wrong one that was packaged with the gun originally. Thanks Bud and Taurus for a quality gun at a low price.

Good gun for a great price. I will start this review like most others on this gun and say that it looked like a floor model/refurb out of the box. The top of the chamber was worn in like the slide had been racked numerous times, or shot more than once. The inside of the barrel looked rough and gritty even after a good cleaning. The initial cleaning took off the red paint that dots the "fire" indicators when the safety is down, and the red paint that coats the top of the extractor to indicate that a round is chambered. There is a small spot on the slide near the chamber where the finish is questionable. All in all, when the gun was intensively cleaned it looked good. The safety lever/decocker/slide stop were all easy to manipulate and felt positive. I concur with other reviews on this gun and say the mag release was a bit hard to depress. I put 150 rounds through the gun and with one mag it ran flawlessly. With the other mag it was hard to chamber the first round, there were many failures to feed, and the slide did not lock back once after the last round was fired. I havent looked into the issue so I am not sure whats wrong with it. The gun did not fit my hand perfectly which is subjective. The sights appear to be off a little as I shot consistently low through the 150 rounds. I am a righty so typically I shoot high and to the left if I am impatient. Once I get a hogue/pachmeyer grip/night sights (on target)/ and deal with the faulty mag this will be a good gun. I will say that this is a gun for certain people in certain situations. I had just enough money to buy this 40. caliber gun and wasnt interested in spending anymore. The gun wholly suits my needs and was mostly on par with my expectations (Don't expect to get Sig Sauer/HK quality for 352.00). (the service via Buds was GREAT!)
