Overall, I am very please with this revolver. The trigger is fantastic and the finish is very nice. It is weighted forward which is to be expected but that does not distract from shooting accurately. The V-comp seems to do quite well because any recoil was quite manageable with warm Fiocchi factory load (900 ft-lbs). The sights were dead on out of the box. This is where I came across a similar issue to others. After cleaning and heading to the range, I dropped in some good factory loads and the very first shot at 15 yards was dead center. I passed the gun over to my son and he took aim and fired and missed the target completely. Recognizing it was a new gun, I asked him to fire again and once again he missed completely. I unloaded the gun and inspected it to find the front sight now sliding back and forth in the dovetail, much like many others have noted. To me this is not enough to give it a 1* rating as it is the only thing I can determine so far as an issue. I removed the front sight noticing it had some sort of lubrication in the dovetail to aid its placement to, but this also allowed it to continue moving. This is truly not acceptable for a gun of this quality and cost to leave the factory this way. So as not to waste the day, I went ahead and fired many more rounds without the front sight to put the gun through its paces and found no other flaws. Other than the front sight, the gun was smooth, quick to reload, and no difficulty whatsoever with recoil. Smith and Wesson did an excellent job. One more thing of note. This is a satin finish on the gun, including the cylinder. Cleaning the powder stains from the front of the cylinder after a session is next to impossible.

This was my first S&W Performance Center gun after owning multiple Ruger revolvers. This is a nice gun, but I really don\'t feel it is Premium in any way. The compensator shot loose the first time that I took it out, Which could be ugly if the bullet had contacted it. The trigger overtravel stop appears to just be for cosmetic purposes as it does not make contact with the trigger guard. The gun can\'t handle hotter loads of .44 magnum, which I like to carry for shooting wild hogs. With that being said, the trigger pull feels nice in both single and double action.

I just bought this beautiful gun, adn picked it up at the FFL yesterday. Everything looked like it was in tip top shape. Took it to the range for the first time today, and had horizontal stringing to the left. Front sight was loose from the factory. This is a Performance Center gun... unacceptable. Heading back tomorrow.

Entirely happy experience. My local gun shop would have charged me considerably more for a gun I'd have had to wait for who knows how many months. It was -- and is -- available at Bud's at an attractive price. The Performance Center's V-Comp .44 mag is a handsome piece of craftsmanship and Bud's service cannot be faulted.
