Very handsome 1911. The rosewood grips really pop. Solid shooter. No issues.

This gun is awesome! You always hear people talking about reasons why 1911's have stood the test of time, and after shooting this fine weapon, I completely understand! I would highly recommend having at least one of these in your collection if you're able. You won't be sorry!

Excellent Pistol, no complaints with Colt's or Buds. Edges are a little sharp compared to my old one, but that is modern CNC milling and not hand fitting. Trigger was tool long for my hand and I needed a ambi safety, otherwise perfect.

My local gun shop received my new gun within 7 days. The condition of the gun was excellent! No marks or scratches. After a good cleaning and lube, it function checks perfect. I have yet to shoot it, but I am sure it will perform flawlessly. Just like a Colt should.

Typical Colt quality. Typical Colt accuracy. Typical Bud's low price and delivery as promised. Bud's has never let me down and I bought for weapons from buds in the last year-and-a-half.

I was excited for the shipping as this is my first 1911 but when I got it there were many little scraps and blemishes all over it and for the price I would have expected a little better care than that. Not pleased with the product at first glance.

I bought this pistol a while ago, putting it on layaway when Bud's offered it at a clearance price. Having just gotten it out to the range, I'm very glad I bought it. I'm an old hand with the 1911, having owned dozens of them over the years. I tend to be conservative in the features I want on a 1911, and this one had everything I wanted, and nothing I didn't, Well, actually, I could do without the front cocking serrations, but they are there. I especially enjoy the two-tone look. It is very 80's retro in appearance, and takes me back to when I was young enough for a full-sized steel 1911 to be my daily carry gun. Now I carry Tactical Tupperware to save weight, but still appreciate a good 1911. And this is a very good 1911 indeed. I took it to the indoor range along with some ammo, some Wilson 47D magazines, and two young friends who are new to 1911s, having never shot anything but plastic striker fired pistols. It was fun to watch their eyes light up when they saw how well they shot a full-sized all steel gun like this. Performance over 250 rounds was flawless, no malfunctions of any kind. Oddly enough, I find that to be the rule rather than the exception with new 1911s that I test, but I have a very specific procedure I use before firing them the first time. I completely field strip and clean a new pistol, then lubricate it properly, and then hand cycle the slide and dry fire between 250-500 times over a few days, usually while watching television. Then I clean and lubricate the pistol again, and go to the range. Using this procedure, I rarely encounter any malfunctions with a pistol unless it is truly broken. Once again, there were no problems of any kind with the big Colt. Sights were easy to see, and the pistol was a joy to shoot due to its weight. It felt slightly nose heavy probably due to the full length guide rod, but that just made it easier to hold on target. The trigger was crisp, weighing in at 5 pounds, 12 ounces before break in, and dropping to 5 pounds 4 ounces average after the break in procedure at home. I was easily able to shoot 2 inch offhand groups at 15 yards, which was the longest distance I had to work with. I like this pistol a lot. The closest competition I can think of is the Springfield TRP, which has a few more features but costs more as well, and has such aggressive front strap checkering that gloves are almost mandatory. This Colt is a bit lighter and simpler, and I think prettier, and is now my favorite 1911. If you buy it, I do not think you will be disappointed. And, it is a Colt. This pistol is better than anything I carried in the 80s that had the prancing pony on it.

One of the most beautiful colts in the lineup. An absolute tack driver. For the price I wish it came with night sights. But I would highly recommend this too anyone on the fence. I have owned countless 1911’s. By far my favorite. Very tight lockup. Some say colt’s quality control has dropped but this is a fantastic carry and showpiece. Best customer service and price from buds once again!,,

When I picked up the gun at my FFL, it was very dry. Fit and finish however, were excellent. During disassembly to clean and lube, I noticed that the mainspring housing is plastic. I know Colt needs to save $$, but putting plastic on a 1911 just isn't right. Since the frontstrap isn't checkered, I put Pearce finger groove inserts on to afford a better grip. The gun was shooting spot on right out of the box. During my initial 50 round test to get the feel of the gun, I discovered that the rumors I've heard about Colt magazines not being very good were indeed true. I had several fail to feed using the supplied Colt magazines. When I switched to two other magazines I happened to have on hand, there were no further problems. I'm not sure if both Colt mags are bad or only one because I didn't have the energy to shoot more to find out(the indoor range I go to has NO chairs for customers to rest and I'm 62 years old). After getting the magazine problem sorted out, I got down to serious shooting. I fired 24 rounds of 230gr P Federal HST, 16 rounds of 230 gr FMJ and 16 rounds of 230gr lead RN. All were fired at a distance of 7 yards. All rounds on all targets were within a 2” group, center of target. I did do some shooting at 12 yards and the results were about the same, but with a couple of fliers(shooters fault, not the guns). I would have given 5 stars if not for the plastic mainspring housing and the magazine issue.

First, the Colt Combat Elite is nothing short of amazing. Have already run 100 rounds through it - pull the trigger and it goes bang - every time. Quality piece of art. Buds Gun Shop made it easy. Fair price, consistent delivery, and surprising follow up to make sure all is good. What more do you want???

Great place to order a gun. Prior to the sale all questions were answered promptly. I used a preferred FFL dealer with no issues and transfer cost was as noted on Bud's site. Timing on shipment and receipt was very quick. I highly recommend Bud's.

I sold this pistol a month after I bought it. I have been a Colt guy for many years but this thing was sloppy! Slide to frame fit was horrible and one of the white dots on the rear sight fell of when I shot it. Not worth the extra money, I replaced it with a Remington R1 Enhanced which I love.

Transaction went quickly and smoothly as usual with Bud's. The pistol looks great and is very accurate right out of the box, ran both FMJ and hollow points through it with no issues. I docked it one star though because the mags don't fit easily into the mag well and don't come out cleanly either - they hang up part of the way down and have to be yanked out. I ordered additional mags directly from Colt and found the same problem (1 acts like it won't even fit the gun). Most likely will be returning the gun to Colt for service.

First as far as Buds is concerned, great service & great price ($877!) for a thousand plus gun. This is the 3’rd gun I buy from them, and it has always been this way. The gun: gun arrived wrapped, and inside the box, with 2 mags. Of course it is “dirty” on arrival. Colt does things right to preserve a gun with lots of grease, then wrapped in a plastic bag inside the box since they have no idea how long it will be on a shelf. All guns should be stripped, cleaned, and lubed prior to their first visit to the range. Words cannot describe how quickly, and profoundly I fell in love with this gun. The balance, the weight…it’s perfect…and beautiful. No wonder people love 1911s. This one comes with Colt’s National Match barrel which is manufactured on a separate production line, and it is a veritable tack driver. Sights [Novak!] were spot on from the factory, and I was destroying bullseyes at 10, then 15 yards. I can’t wait to take it to the outdoor range to start hitting metal plates at 50! It is a complete pleasure to shoot, so my full size M&P 45 will now be relegated to living in my truck. It’s a little on the large & heavy side for comfortable concealed carry, but I have my Walther PPS (which is an excellent option) to fulfill that role. If you live in a colder climate, or an open carry state, this shouldn’t be an issue. (In Florida, we live in shorts, t-shirts, & flip flops). You will never regret buying this gun, especially at Bud’s price.

This is a great shooting 1911 out of the box. So far I have shot 100 rounds through it. No problems at all. This gun is easily capable of 3inch groups at 25 yards. It's more accurate than I am. Fit and finish are excellent. Trigger I would estimate is around 4.5-5lbs. Couldn't decide between this gun, the colt competition pistol or the SA Range officer. The finish on this gun made the choice for me, very happy with this purchase.

This is my second Colt Combat Elite and purchased both from Bud's. The first one had over four hundred rounds of both Winchester 230 gr FMJ and Black Hills 230 gr JHP through it without a problem before I gave it to my son. I have only fired 50 rounds of FMJ through this pistol also without any problems. For anyone looking for a nice 1911 and know how to operate this style of pistol I highly recommend this Colt. Bud's has great service and prices so I have continued as a long term customer. I purchased this one through the 90 day layaway program and the pistol was at my FFL five days after I made my last payment. This pistol is solid and a natural pointer with good accuracy so I will continue as a Bud's customer and will most likely by a third Colt for my wife.

Just went shooting with this awesome pistol today. It was more accurate and easier to shoot than my Smith & Wesson M&P 9, and my wife's Taurus 38 revolver. Even she thought so! It's a little more interesting to take apart, clean, and reassemble, but it will get easier with practice. If you're looking for a great 1911, just go ahead and pick this one up. You won't be disappointed! Make sure you buy it from Bud's because you won't get better service, or a better price anywhere else!

Best combat pistol on the market for less than $1k. Super accurate out of the box. Durable, reliable, perfect fit. I've never had any issues with ammo types or function with a colt. Thanks Buds, I'll keep buying.

The Combat Elite arrived quickly and in great shape. While there are concerns about Colt's financial restructuring, this pistol shows great craftsmanship and attention to detail. I could go on and talk about the various parts and technical mumbo jumbo but when all was said and done there were no problems running the first 50 rounds through it. The paper target had some major chunks missing and for my ability the pistol's accuracy rivals the best 1911's on the market. It's as good a shooter as my Special Combat Government and my Nighthawk Custom.

Lets start with Bud's service, first rate. Delivery in about a week from placing the order, everything as expected. I'll continue to use Bud's with a high degree of confidence. Now the gun, unlike some guns that you may get rid of after a few years, this Colt 1911 Combat Elite is outstanding in terms of fit, finish and accuracy and is one you'll keep. It's essentially a Gold Cup with combat sights. The grips really are beautifully finished and feel good when shooting. So far, I'm starting to break the gun in. No failures of any kind in just over 100 rounds...flawless. This gun is far more accurate that I'll ever likely be but if you're a competitor, who likes the 1911 .45ACP, this is your gun. There are a lot of 1911's out and many of them are just as high quality and of similar accuracy. However there is really only one Colt. Colt's are seldom inexpensive, but they will hold there value better than others. When you pass this on to your children, they'll continue to cherish it. Very high value to cost ratio.

The Colt Combat Elite surely lived up to its billing, after all, it is a Colt. Very tight frame to slide fit and there is absolutely no rattles. Beautiful two tone finish with its matching wood grips. Dissasembly of the pistol is quite a pain as I've to pry the slide stop with a plastic bushing for removal but no complaints because this is what you expect for a tight fitting. At the range, the pistol performs as expected, hits 1-2 inches target on 15-25 yards and no Failures to feed or fire with 230 ball ammo. The two eight 8 round mags seemed to have no problems with any ammo. My only complaint with this pistol is that they should put an extended mag release, even the cheap 1911's has extended mag release, paging the Colt Company to put an extended mag release, otherwise, an excellent shooting pistol.
