Ok for plinking but would not stake life on this weapon. Feeds ok with ball rounds but you throw flat nose or hollows into it and it wont make it up the ramp. Polishing off the paint helps alittle but still have alot of issues. Even had a few rems get shoved up into the case because of the feed ramp.

This was my first handgun. People may bash hi point, but those are people who have not owned one. I love it. Have yet to have a failure in the weapon. Shoots excellent. It can be a little bulky on the hip but you get used to it. For first time hand gun buyers on a budget i would definitely recommend hi point.

I wanted a 45 ACP and didn't want to spend a lot. I relied on the many good reviews and with the weight being the number one short fall I decided I am fairly strong and could handle the weight. The gun came with a case and one magazine delivered to my FFL for 150.00. Now to the operation, I have put 300 rounds through the gun with "ZERO" problems and although the trigger pull is a bit more than I like I have no regrets. It's a large frame gun so don't plan on a CC weapon, but, for security around the house I think its a good choice with stunning reliability, and as we all know, reliability is important.

So we decided to give this Hi Point a chance. What it does do well is go bang. However that is where the good stops. The sights are very hard to see properly, shooting way left and low each and every time. The slide has very little grip in the back and we found often times your hand would slip off the slide instead of chambering a round. The weight of it was terrible. The overall weight was not the issue - we expected a heavy brick, but it is not well balanced at all. Then there is the issue of not having a slide release and having a magazine safety. So you need to put a mag in the gun to close the slide, but that means the mag has to be empty unless you want to chamber a round. All the mechanical function aside the last straw is when you need to drive out the pin to break the gun down. Breaking this gun down each time you are done shooting is just not practical. We have broken down three times now and you can already see idiot marks and the end of the pin spreading. I found the punches were either a little too small or a little too large. After three shooting sessions of about 100 rounds total this one is being retired to the safe. Overall this gun is fine to throw in your tackle box or field truck and if it doesn't fire you can always use it as a club. Being priced at $165 you can get a much better used SW40VE for only $100 more and have a much better gun. Not that the SW40VE is perfect either but that is for another review. We are only giving this 2 stars because it does indeed shoot but that's about it.

Just got back from hooting 50 Blazer Brass 230 grain FMJ and 50 TulAmmo 230 grain FMJ...even did a quick 2 second clip...not one jam! Absolutely love the price, quality, accuracy and dependability of this gun! Recoil is acceptable...exhaust is LOUD (love it) perfect weapon for anyone...especially one who is on a limited "mad money" income!
