Out of box love the rifle have shot about 200 rounds over past several weeks. I have the bruise on my shoulder to show it. Shoots 1" groups at 100 yards with a 1.5 - 4x 28mm scope.
Found a number of cuts on my hands after handling, the lever to the rifle out of the box needed deburred. The finish on the lever had a lot of sharp edges. I was a little surprised that Marlin would not finish the lever better.
I took a dremel to it and various grit sandpaper, it's fine now. The the prettiest job but it gives it some early patina that gives the gun character.
A hammer spur comes with the rifle to add onto the hammer to assist with cocking it with a short eye relief scope. Unfortunately, the spur's allen screw was not threaded correctly by factory. I called Bud's who contacted Marlin and Marlin agreed to send me a new spur in the mail. Still waiting for that spur to arrive.
Realized after shooting a couple hundred rounds that a short eye relief scope on this rifle would eventually give me a a "scope eye". Picked up a scout scope with a 6" eye relief. Love the rifle and the round, highly recommended. Scope is zero'd in, ready to go kill some pigs in the Everglades.
