After doing a lot of research on type of home defense pistol I wanted to get I kept coming back to the CZ P07 Duty. It cost half of some competitors and appeared to be a well made and reliable weapon. That and the fact that CZ made awesome dirt bikes when I was a kid cinched the deal. Buds was a dream to work with and everything went like clockwork.
I have put about 600 rounds of various range ammo through it from TulAmmo steel case Russian stuff to Speer Lawman and other brands. These days you shoot what you can get! I was impressed that the gun eats everything with ease. Never any type of malfunction, even with some friends reloads. I have read various reports on ammo that I have shot successfully in the Duty that chocked other more expensive brands! I think that speaks well for the Duty. I don’t want a gun that is picky about what ammo it likes because the days of being picky about buying ammo look to be gone, at least for some time. This gun appears to like everything I feed it.
As far as accuracy, the Duty is more accurate than I am. I can keep 5 shots in an 8” circle at 30 yards. If I was a more disciplined shooter I’m sure that I could do better. But I can easily hit what I aim at and that is what counts really. The “U” rear sight seemed a bit odd at first but it really helps me line up the target and I really like it now that I have shot with it. It is also small enough for my wife to shoot. If it was just for me I would have gone bigger, but the size is just right for her had as well and isn’t as intimidating as a .45.
The gun is ridiculously easy to disassemble and clean. It takes about 30 seconds to pop one pin and remove the slide and barrel. I hear of people not cleaning their guns after a trip to the range but I just cannot think of it myself and being so simple to take it down makes it that much easier. A clean gun is a happy gun in my book.
To sum up my feeling of the P07 Duty, I LOVE it, it is accurate and goes bang every time with whatever I feed it! I don’t think you could ask for more.
