First I would like to say that this is a lot of gun for the money. They use quality parts and the slide to frame fit is as tight as my Ed brown SF. Once I got home from my FFL I detail stripped and cleaned it. The first thing I noticed was that many of the small parts were starting to rust. The barrel bushing, guide rod, recoil spring plug, grip screws and extractor all had rust on them. I was able to clean the rust off of the extractor with a little scrubbing but the barrel bushing, recoil spring plug and guide rod had rust eating through the finish. I contacted Double star customer service about this and they acted like they didn't believe me. They finally told me to send it in but they wouldn't cover shipping. Pretty crappy customer service. I decided to replace the parts myself since it was cheaper than shipping it to Doublestar and I really had no confidence in them. First trip to the range I put 200 rounds of Federal 230g FMJ with absolutely zero issues. I'm very happy with the gun now but this is definitely my last product from Doublestar.

Picked the Double Star up from my FFL yesterday. It came in a cloth bag which puzzled me. $1100.00 plus for this thing and I don't get a hard case. Took the pistol home and started reading the instructions. Double Star cites in their instruction manual that the firearm comes with a hard case. I call Double Star and this woman tells me that the cloth bag the weapon came in cost $75.00. Is that suppose to make me happy because they got ripped off for a cheap looking $75.00 cloth bag and I am going to make up the difference by paying a premium price? I took the pistol apart this afternoon and cleaned/oiled it. The pistol looks alright, everything is tight. I am going to the range tomorrow. Will update my post tomorrow after I shoot it. I also picked up a Kimber Classic II, it looks pretty good also. It came with a hard case and cost a couple hundred cheaper than the Double Star. I will post on that too tomorrow. These are the 6th and 7th weapons I have bought from Buds and I have not had a problem yet other than my disappointment with the bag/hard case issue.

I could not be more happy with my new pistol. The fit and finish is way better than I expected. It is as nice or nicer than any Les Baer or Wilson I have handled. It exceeded my expectations greatly! I am a retired USMC GySgt Force Operator. I have fried hundreds of thousands of .45ACP through MEUSOC 45's, the Double Star is better than anything I have ever carried! In my opinion this is the best 1911 out there for the money.

Update on 1911 double feeding issue. Received new magazine from Gary @ Doublestar. Ran another 100 rounds (Remmington 240 ball ammunition) but had same double feeding issue. Called back and he connected me to Doug in order to process return. They immediately sent me prepaid return tag with no questions asked. I have no issue with product problems. However, poor customer service is inexcusable. In this case I have had nothing but professional and complete customer service from Doublestar. I am confident that the problem will be rectified. This is a beautiful firearm and it shoots smooth and strong. Once the issue is fixed it will be my favorite firearm to shoot

Grade incomplete so far. Great customer service from Bud's. Shot for first time today. Put 100 rounds of Remmington 240 grain ball ammunition though weapon. However, every 4-5 shots got a double feed necessitating ejection of magazine and re-racking. Using standard magazine (Novack's) plus two Wilson Combat magazines. Don't believe it was operator error as made sure no limp-wristing. Same issue with shooting buddy as well. Called Double Star and spoke with Gary. Very helpful and thought was magazine issue. He agreed to send me new Novack's magazine. I will try strictly Novack's for next range day and evaluate situation. Will advise further. Otherwise a stunning 1911.
