After reading all the excellent reviews, I ordered this riffle from Bud's. They gave me excellent service and the rifle arrived without any issues. However, I took it to the range today for the first time and it wouldn't fire. I cycled 3 rounds through the rifle and not one of them fired, I checked the rear of the cartridge and no marks from the firing pin. I've purchased two pistols fro Springfield Armory and received a spent shell indicating the weapon fired. For such an expensive rifle, I am very disappointed. I am awaiting a reply from Bud's, and I'll update this in the future.

It was a hard one to find in stock and Buds had it. I used The layaway plan for 90 days with 20% down. Talked to Buds staff on the phone a couplke times during the layaway and was impressed by the service. I ordered it on a Wednesday and had Friday. I took it out and shot that same day. Shot and functioned flawlessly. I bought some Check-Mate brand 20 rds. magazines for it and they work and feed awesome in this weapon. Sweet weapon for a reasonable price. I will be buying from buds again.

Nice rifle, 2+/- inch shooter at 100 yds. Excellent trigger for a rifle of this type. Fun to shoot so have plenty of ammo around. Sights are not good for my older eyes so I may have to scope or add an electronic Eotech dot. Quite lout so hearing protection is strongly adviesd. Very light felt recoil. Actually there is no recoil just a gentle shove when the round is fired. You shouldn't develop a flinch with this one. If you have plans to get one go ahead as there's nothing to fear here except laying out the nearly 1500.00 it will take to purchase one. This will likely be your "go to" fun gun.

I bought the scout version of this gun because I like this rifle in the short configuration. I actually like the longer muzzle break on this gun than the one on the socom 16. That's the only reason why I went with this gun instead of the socom. For those worried about recoil don't. There is very little. NO KIDDING! The difference between this gun and my AR15 is that it's a wee bit snapier when it goes off. Other than that I can't tell the difference. In fact, I think that after the first shot you'll be right at home with it. It's so much fun to shoot however, ammo is about twice the price of 5.56mm so that might be something to consider if you want to shoot this gun a lot but have an ammo budget to work with. Would I recommend this gun? absolutely! There's a reason why it's expensive. :) It's one of those guns that will stay with me for my lifetime. If you're on the fence whether to purchase one or not go try one. I promise you'll come right back and order it but this time you will not even look at the price! :) have fun!

I waited quite a while for Bud's to receive inventory as this M1A was the one I was set on. Bud's had the lowest price and always great with delivery & service. The M1A is hefty, solid and classic. I installed a open reflex red-dot sight and and Blackhawk cheek pad on stock then went to range to sight-in. This rifle is durable and the accuracy is excellent and consistent. The recoil of .308 caliber was surprising at first but adjusted quickly. I would recommend this to anyone interested in an M1A - one of best, it's a classic designed rifle no wonder it's so popular.
