I've read where others have had problems with the PO mags not loading properly, and was worried about that being as how magazines for anything are difficult to find right now. I'm glad to say I got a couple of good ones thus far. I picked up the gun Fri., and had on the range Sat. morning. I went through 220 or so rounds without a failure of any kind. Hope my magazines continue to work, but have 4 CMC magazines backordered just in case. I'm extremely pleased with this gun and my purchase.

Very nice 1911, great fit and finish. Only about 60 rounds through it so far, but no issues in ammo selections (SWC, hardball, HP's).

Have had my GI Expert stainless for about six weeks. First time at the range had a few FTF's but no stovepipes. I have fired approximately 450 rounds through it to date, and would like to report that the gun is performing better and better with the amount of rounds put down range. Since purchasing, I have done a few modifications to the gun. Have replaced the trigger with a Chip McCormick match grade, a full length guide rod from Wilson, and a Pachmeyer wood grip. I have also purchased Wilson Combat magazines, but they have not performed any better than the stock magazines that came with the gun. Longevity of the magazines may determine the better value. I am very please with this PARA and would not hesitate to buy another. Stay away from Indepenence 230gr FMJ and go with Federal 230gr FMJ or Blazer Brass 230gr FMJ to avoid any FTF's. I have also fired Hornady XTP 185gr without any failures. So far the Independence has been the only suspect ammo for the GI Expert. The finish of this gun is very nice and appears to be well done. The slide to frame fit is phenomenol, and very tight. The first few time you pull back the slide to the full recoil position may surprise all but the most experience shooter's. Enjoy one of our last freedom's America, firearms are the "new gold" so stock up!

This 1911 eats any factory ammo I can find. Reloads are a liltle more picky. Doesn't like 185 SWC but shoots 200SWC and 230 RN fine. Factory clips work excellent. I would definitely buy agAin. 1200 ish rounds through with no problems. I wish it had checkered front strap. Five stars all the way!

At first glance, looks to be a well put together gun. Slide to frame fit is indeed tight. I liked the bead blasted matte finish. However, I am finding that this gun is not "drop in" part friendly for up-grading. I was disappointed at it having a plastic mainspring housing so I had to pay a gunsmith to fit an aluminum one. Also, it has a crunchy trigger press. The finish is not very resilient and makes rub marks and light scratching very apparent which is disappointing when the gun is handled so lightly. Also, make sure you are comfortable with a G.I. style grip safety, otherwise your aftermarket options are either custom beavertail by gunsmith, or a drop in part that looks ridiculous. Performance wise I have little to complain about as the gun feeds reliably and is as accurate as its' shooter. Sights are clean, but the grips have to go as there is little to no traction for this gun when shooting. I believe that this is a good gun to build on, but one might be better off spending a bit more and getting a Taurus 1911, as I have had two in the past, which have more features and a similar warrantee. Thank you.
