Finally got the time to go to the range to fire this rifle. It is a very neat looking gun, and fires the cheapest 22LR rounds. Sub-sonic rounds don't do so well in this rifle, as it fails to load the next round into the chamber. The only drawback to this rifle, is the failure of machine screws that hold the internal assembly together. The carrier assembly has these sheet metal-like screws that hold the assembly together. Rrages.com has a machine-screw replacement set that will NOT replace the sheet-metal screws in this rifle. GSG did upgrade the screws in this "polymer lightweight" version with larger ones, but did not use machine screws! I hope the carrier assembly doesn't vibrate loose from firing of the rifle. You can purchase several HK brand spring-loaded push pins for this GSG rifle. This will enable you to take the stock, trigger group, forearm easily and quickly. There are several videos on youtube that show you how to take this rifle apart to clean, etc.

I purchased this rifle a little over a month ago. Before purchasing I did not realize that the receiver on this version is plastic (polymer). There is a bit more expensive version with an aluminum receiver available. This rifle is strictly for fun shooting. It is a blast to shoot. I did foam fill the stock as it felt really cheap. I did over tighten the stock screw a bit and it split the plastic. I had to epoxy in a metal plate so it should be stronger now. I also modified the front sight by adding a Hi Viz rod. It's a sweet little shooter for $300. Accuracy is acceptable. Don't expect much in terms of quality and durability. It's just fun.

Took about a week from order to delivery - that includes a weekend. Not bad, but I was looking forward to delivery, so seemed to take a lot longer. Excellent condition once I got it out of the box. Started modifications immediately. Have read many posts and agree the rail needs to go. I have an old airsoft, so swapped the stock and rear sight. Ordered and installed push pins (only permanent mod as this requires a minor amount of drilling). Made it to the range 2 weeks after delivery. Just shy of 500 rounds, 2 FTF, 1 FTE. FTF clearly ammunition, FTE was questionable, but quickly cleared and no more issues. Used CCI HV and Win SuperX ammunition. Accurate at 50 yards with modified rear sight. The downside starts with the instruction/owner manual. read it once, then toss it. Get the HK push pins, its worth not having to unscrew bolts every time you want to clean. Which leads to the real negative of this rifle, it is a pain to clean. As expected, 22LR is not the cleanest round, coupled with a lot of tiny crevices that are difficult to get into, cleaning takes some time. Im ordering a conversion kit that contains the original GSG5 for the front site - airsoft rifle didn't cut it for this part. The site included with the rifle is open , not a traditional closed one. It works, but not as easy to frame targets. All said and done, $308 for the rifle, $35 for upgrades, its an outstanding rifle that is a lot of fun for the money. Im looking at getting two more so my sons won't need to share ...
