Just a heads up for those considering this gun, it weighs 8.6 pounds on a shipping scale. Remington advertises it weighs 7.5 pounds and I\'ve seen as low as 7.3 from dealers. This is a pretty ridiculous difference. That being said its not really a deal breaker since I was buying this gun with a heavy barrel for a reason. I will be hunting with it and installing a Magpul Hunter stock plus bottom magwell and vortex viper hs-t. It will be a great target gun with hunting ability, just a pound heavier than anticipated. I\'m also changing the trigger out immediately for a Timney Calvin elite. Remington can advertise the Xmark pro trigger\'s pull weight range and factory setting til they\'re blue in the face but it\'s as b.s. as this gun\'s weight. With a digital trigger pull scale I\'ve never seen an Xmark come any lighter than 6 pounds or adjust lower than 5.4. I went in to buying this gun knowing its problems and combination of the 700 action, the barrel length and twist and pre-threaded feature were what I was buying (price of the action plus a decent barrel and threading will run far more than the price of the AAC-SD). If you want a project this is a solid 5* if you want to shoot it as-is I\'d say you in for a bit of a rodeo.

I am yet to fire this rifle as I just received it today, and am still waiting on glass. I will however leave a review based on my first impressions, fit, and finish. The rifle comes in the standard "Remington" box, encased in Styrofoam, nothing special. It comes with all the basic manual, and the junk chamber lock. It also comes with the small allen key used to adjust the X-mark pro trigger. The stock is very comfortable to hold, the Hogue butt pad is very soft as well, it seems like it will soften up the recoil sufficiently. It is supposed to be a full float system, but the stock has a decent amount of flex and touches the barrel with my Harris BRM bipod installed. The trigger is very smooth, zero grit, and zero take up. it feels pretty light to me as well without being adjusted. I don't know what the actual pound rating is on mine, but it feels pretty good. I researched some aftermarket triggers, but I just don't see the need for it now. The action is smooth when cycling and the bolt gets solid lock-up. The safety is smooth and in a great spot ergonomically. There is little to say about the barrel, it is a bull barrel, but the rifle doesn't feel heavy in my hands, which is good since I still have to add 24 ounces of optic. I installed the JP standard compensator. I had issues finding the outer diameter of the barrel at the end where it would meet up with the brake, but I found one review that stated it was .860. My muzzle brake is .875 OD and fits almost perfectly, It is slightly larger than the barrel. Hopefully this will help some of you select a brake. I am only giving this rifle 4/5 stars since the stock has that small amount of flex. I can modify the stock slightly to eliminate the touching on the barrel so it is not a huge deal to me.

This is a great buy. I had no problems ordering from Buds Gun Shop. I would defiantly do it again.

The Remington 700 SPS TACT AAC-SD 308 Hogue Overmolded Ghillie Green is just a great rifle right out of the box. Bought this rifle to build it up over time. Stock, trigger, etc... The worse thing I can say about the rifle is the trigger. Like others have said It will not adjust to under four pounds. It will probably be one of the first things I change. I was able to shoot 3/4 inch groups and under at a hundred yards without a problem using factory ammo. Also Buds once again was outstanding with the order. Very quick processing and shipping.

This was my first Bud's purchase and I must say I was pleased with all aspects of the transaction. I have been a fan of Remington 700 rifles for decades and have one I purchased over 50 years ago along with several more over the years. I have never regretted purchasing any one of them. This gun was a little below the standards I have grown to expect from Remington. The 40X trigger is advertised as being adjustable. I was disappointed with the results. It originally weighed a little over 4 pounds. I adjusted in stages until the adjustment screw came out of the trigger housing. Even then the trigger still weighed a full 4 pounds. That is much too heavy for a precision sniper rifle that I was building with this action. I had to replace it with a quality aftermarket trigger. Upon first firing the rifle, the bolt was extremely hard to open. Closer examination revealed that the problem was the face of the bolt. The exterior finish of the bolt is rather course and it seemed particularly thick on the bolt face. The bolt face had not been polished and it was claiming a sandpaper like grip on the base of the cartridge. To continue shooting I had to lubricate the bolt face to make it possible to close and open it. I am about half way through my break in of the barrel but it appears that it will be very accurate in the new custom stock I placed it in. I have already seen a 5 shot 100 yard group of less than .5". I cannot evaluate how it would shoot with the original stock since I replaced it before ever firing the rifle. Overall, the Remington 700 is still the best rifle for out of the box accuracy and reliability but they cut a few too many corners on this "Tactical" version in the fit and finish departments.
