This was my first purchase from Bud's and it could not have gone smoother. Great price, very responsive customer service, and super fast shipping. I chose this gun to be a combination carry/trail/truck gun. I live in the mountains of Idaho where we have wolves, coyotes, foxes, black bears, and mtn lions so I wanted something more powerful than a 38 or a 9mm. The 3 inch barrel model is, to me, the Goldilocks of carry/trail guns. My J frame S&W is too small, and the six shot Rugers are too big, but this one is just right. I received the gun about 10 days ago and have put about 120 rounds through it. The revolver is as expected from Ruger. Nicely packaged in a Ruger hard case with lock and owner's manual. Beautiful, bright stainless steel finish. The gun is surprisingly accurate with a front rest. The trigger is pretty rough out of the box (hence 4 stars and not 5) but I have dry fired it a couple hundred times and it has smoothed up a little, but it will definitely need a professional trigger job. Being all steel, it is pretty heavy so it is a pussy cat with my 38 spl handloads, but it is brutal with full house factory 357 loads.

The Ruger SP101 is a beautiful, solid firearm. It is a joy to shoot.

This pistol is awesome! Machining, lock-up, finish, how it feels all 5 stars. I would rather own this than a S&W with that silly H-hole on the frame.

Great revolver. I like the feel and balance and am able to shoot it well. If there is a down-side, it's that finding a good holster for the 3" model is difficult. Solid piece.

Solid and well built revolver. As always, Bud's shipped very quickly and product arrived fast. Nothing negative to say.

I first want to compliment Bud’s for another smooth transaction. Despite the current pandemic, the gun was at my FFL dealer in three business days. The revolver itself is solid and a very sweet shooting gun. Standard pressure .38 special loads were a pure pleasure to shoot, and the gun handled medium strength .357 magnum loads with aplomb. I also have a Ruger GP100 with a 4.2 inch barrel, and both revolvers are rugged and handsome. The SP100 is a quality firearm and I plan to enjoy shooting it for years to come.

Ruger makes the best revolver period. I got my wife the SP101 in the short 2" barrel and she was able to use it very well. I shot with it recently and really liked it for the way it handles and the accuracy. I qualified with it for my CWP at 100%. Revolvers are on the comeback for many reasons. First off they are very dependable, accurate and if you ever have a missfire/hangfire you are not going to have an issue with the handgun. I chose the SP101 in 3" just because I like a little more barrel on my gun. I also have a great waist holster that is designed for any SP101. The other reason I like the Ruger SP101 so much is because I can shoot .38 Special, +P, or full 357 magnums with it. That variety makes it a lock. Buds always comes through with a great price and easy FFL transfer and shipping options. All around great experience. Thanks Buds!

As expected & desired. Nice revolver.

This is a beautiful, mid-sized revolver, my first. This is an excellent option for .38 special range shooting as well as loading it with .357 magnum for backpacking in bear/cougar country - it will ride so much nicer on your belt than a standard sized .357 and you will be able to sling it quicker. This a wonderful multi-use gun that is also great looking and tank-like Ruger made. I have Hogue grips on it now and replaced the front sight with a HIVIZ fiber optic. I strongly recommend using a gunsmith to change sights on this gun; it looks easy but the gunsmith told me they have to modify the seat on the new sights to fit perfectly tight. Another home run, Ruger. Excellent revolver.

There is a reason I love Ruger, Reasonable price, reliable, and built like a tank. I do own other brands and they are nice as well, but to date I've never had an issue that has changed my mind yet.

Have a few revolvers from less popular brands and I like those but this Ruger feels and looks like a quality made product. Bud's shipped fast as usual and I am happy with the product and service.

This gun is a very good value for the price. I really liked the brush stainless steel finish. It is just heavy enough to be able to handle 357 magnum rounds while not being too bulky to carry all day. The trigger is acceptable but a little heavy from the factory, and it kind of reminds me of the trigger on my Taurus 44 mag. The gun shot to point of aim right out of the box @ 50 feet using MagTech 158 grain 357s (the muzzle flash was 3 feet long :) ). I upgraded the grip to a Hogue Monogrip which helps considerably when drawing and with recoil control. All in all a great gun at a very reasonable price. Thank you Ruger!

Having issue with shooting .357 casings not ejecting like it should. All 5 casings are getting stuck when pushing the ejector. The gun was thoroughly cleaned before it was shot. Not sure if it’s a mechanical issue or ammo issue but I’m going to try using different ammo. Other than that the gun looks great and has a nice feel. Would like maybe some feedback on the situation. Gonna call Ruger after a few more test rounds.
