I had been wanting stainless.357 magnum for a while. I was torn between the S&W 686 and the GP 100. I had recently bought the GP 100 in .22lr and really liked it. From all of the reviews I had watched and read, I decided to go with the Ruger because it was regarded as "tank" like. I am so glad I did. I'm sure the Smith is a great revolver, but, I love the simplicity of the Ruger for complete disassembly. It is very accurate and the trigger pull is smooth which makes double action firing better. Save yourself the extra $$ and get the GP 100! You will not be disappointed.

I just picked up my Ruger GP 100 at my FFL this afternoon. This is my first purchase from Bud's and I'm very pleased with how well it went. I put my order in Saturday night and received it this friday. The gun was in good working order and had no issues so I accepted it. I am more than please with my revolver. The cylinder seems to be tight and the trigger is very good. Yes, it's a longer pull than a S&W but I don't mind at all. I will take it to the range later next week. I had thought I would replace the rubber grips with wood but so far I like them a lot. I have large hands and they work well for me. My first .357 Mag was a S&W 19 and this is much heavier than that one but I like the heft. This thing is very well built. The trigger is perfect for double action work. The single action pull is sweet. The double action pull is slightly heavier than a S&W but very smooth. I don't plan any modifications at this time. I really like the sights. I will buy the Ruger red sight but I'm not sure it's really needed. I think this is a very good alternative to the S&W 686. I saved a hundred bucks getting the Ruger and I have no regrets.

This is an outstanding revolver. The quality and craftsmanship are excellent. Add a Ruger red ramp sight and a Chig's grip and its perfect. Bud's was great as always.

Extremely satisfied with the purchase of this Revolver. This is a great gun! Sturdy, with a great grip. You can tell it's build with quality, and it shoots very well. Very glad I pulled the trigger on purchasing this!

I wanted a DA/SA revolver to add to my collection. I was looking at both the GP100 and the S&W 686. Everything I read and saw said the S&W was a better gun, but only because it has a smoother trigger pull. As I continued to research, I kept leaning toward the Ruger, primarily because of Rugers reputation for tank-like construction, and its abitity to take powerful loads. I decided to buy the Ruger GP100 .357 in the stainless 4" barrel. Of course the first thing I did was to test the trigger. I found it to be very smooth and crisp, and it got better as I used it. It is also worth mentioning that the grip is excellent at absorbing the recoil shock and is very comfortable. For the difference in price and the reputation for Rugers build, I would definitely reccommend the GP100. Very accurate with both magnum and .38 special.

This is a great gun. So well balanced and comfortable. I personally like the big fat hogue grip it came with, but I wanted to carry it and I put a regular hogue mono-grip on it. (my big belly gives me a lot of "tool-shed" to carry a revolver in) Shoots very smoothly double action. Balanced so well there is not much kick with magnums either. Finish was great except I noticed a small tool mark on the barrel lug at home. I smoothed it out carefulyl with 1000 grit paper and I would say this is my favorite revolver of the 4 I have.
