outstanding weapon! out of the box. no zero/BZO. 300+ meter shot in heart on female mule deer with thick brush. yes, i am the man! but this weapon did the work in this case. nothing bad to say about savage.

Bud's was great, but I had a hard time getting decent groups from this rifle. I was getting 3" groups at 100 yards, then I'd start hitting the target way off from the group. I get 1.5 inch groups with my Tikka .243. and I don't consider myself a great shooter. The scope that comes with the Savage Axis is very cheap and I think that is part of the problem. I wanted to put a picatinny rail on this rifle to mount one of my good scopes and I couldn't get the screws out that held the scope mounts that came with the rifle. I had to bring it to a gunsmith and have him drill out the screws That cost $80 plus I had the expense of a new rail. This turned into a huge project that wasn't really worth it. I had so much aggravation that I should have just bought another Tikka! Actually, I did eventually buy a Tikka in .308 -- from Bud's of course!

Really nice weapon, came boxed up and excellent condition, I was hesitant to buy online but this has an excellent experience. These guys at Bud's are professional and take care of business. Just bought another firearm from them and hope to do more business.

Awesome rifle a little heavy on the trigger but thats an easy spring cut. The bolt is nice and smooth and this package comes with a nice Bushnell 3-9×40 scope shooting+/- 2moa out of the box. I highly recommend this gun for if your on a budget.

The Savage Axis is a very nice rifle. It is very light and the action is smooth. This is a beautiful rifle for an amazing price.

Ordered the rifle around labor day and it got here on time despite the long weekend. Buds is excellent as always. Will be a returning customer. Rifle is beautiful and functions flawlessly. Took a couple rounds to sight in. Now it is on target and ready for hunting. This is a hunting rifle, it does not have a heavy barrel. So, it heats up after 4-6 rounds. Do not wish to do constant fire with this rifle. The heat from the barrel may morph the stocks forearm. The free floated barrel is a feature I really love. As well as the detachable mag. Now buds lies here. They say it's 3+1 but in reality its 4+1. Awesome rifle
