A simple and fairly inexpensive rifle. Came with a scope Bushnell that is decent. I like it and would recommend it to people looking for something to start out with. Nice bolt turn and pull but needs to be used more to smooth it out. Removable magazine is held in place by a piece of plastic that I don't like. I also don't like the hollow plastic stock or the flex just behind the hand guard. While I don't think anything will break in the near future it still brings concern to the back of my mind.

Great rifle! Shoots great too. My only thing is the mag gets a little worn and starts to fall. Otherwise it's a 5 star.

I purchased this Savage Axis XP 308 back in January 2016. I've had no issues with this rifle at all. Accuracy right out of the box was great, just a few inches up and right, but got it zeroed in with no issue. Scope retains zero with no issues. Recoil, well it's a .308, not a .22LR, but definitely not a .50BMG either. It's a nice recoil. Ammo is a little pricey, but for a bolt action with 4+1, it's not unbearable. You're probably not going to be using this to clear rooms. As a starter to intermediate hunting rifle, it's great for it's intended purposes. You can really enjoy this rifle at the range as well. Like I mentioned earlier, there's not much kick so shooting from a prone or bench position is a breeze. Customization is very limited due to lack of aftermarket parts availability. But a bipod, sling, and a nice 10rd mag which can be found for about $95.00, will make this gun into a nice "tactical" rifle. I outfitted mine with a Voodoo Tactical cheek stock riser and ammo pouch from amazon.com, UTG combat bipod from amazon.com, and an OD green sling also from amazon.com and my rifle looks great. I'm saving up for a suppressor and barrel threading job though.
