Tight, tight, tight. It would be hard to do a better job of fitting a pistol. Warning: Thoroughly disassemble and clean before shooting. These are well greased before being boxed, and shards of soft lead are in the barrel from test fireing. If not cleaned prior to your first outing it will jam for you. I also noticed the FEED RAMP was Parkerized and needs to be polished off to accept Hollow points . It's easy to do with a piece of 400 grit paper. Great price/great gun! Enough said!

I bought this weapon as my first pistol. The cost was very reasonable. I added a couple mags and a warranty/insurance to my order, and it came to about $430. I ordered on a Friday and had it in a Wednesday - you can only beat that turnaround by going direct to the store. At the range, it functioned just as well as the old Colt M1911s I trained with in the Air Force. I put 100 rounds of 230 grain fmj rounds from Winchester. Out of 100 rounds, I had one failure to feed, due to an improperly seated round in the magazine. No other errors occurred. The mag springs are very tight, and are of Italian manufacture, as opposed to the Philippino gun. I know other folks have issues with the GI sights, but they were good on my particular weapon; they shot neither high nor low, and I was shooting one- and two-inch groups on my first mag loads. They weapon was oily out of the box, and as previous reviews stated, super tight with no rattle. I did have some sort of residue in the barrel, and I stripped and cleaned the whole gun before firing it. All said and done, this was the best of all the possible outcomes for a first-time buyer like myself - inexpensive, great and fast service, and completely hassle-free. I'm definitely recommending Bud's to my friends for when the local shop is low on inventory, and recommending this weapon to anyone that wants a basic, inexpensive beginning 1911.

This is a really nice entry level 1911. It does what its suppose to do and that\'s function 100% reliably.

I was excited to enter into the 1911 world ant this ATI Commander size seemed the ideal route to go. Fact is it jammed from the get go. Failure to Feed. Three point jams. Also, I\'m not buying that any modern day firearm needs 500 rounds through it to make it function as designed. Every other gun I\'ve bought worked beautifully out of the box. This one\'s either going back to ATI OR BEING TRADED FOR A Glovk,Walther or CZ 9mm.
