Taurus disappointed me again with this one. Pros: Runs like a sewing machine. No failures of any kind. Super easy to conceal carry because of the profile. Con: Sights way off. Could not hit anywhere near point of aim at 7 yards. Sights are not adjustable on this weapon. Not a problem if you don't mind dropping close to a hundred dollars on some aftermarket sights. If you buy this model, be prepared to replace the sights.

Another well made quality Taurus firearm. Nice trigger pull and now my favorite CCW. Accurate and easy to break down and clean. As usual, prompt service from Bud's.

A great little concealed carry gun that packs the .40 S&W punch. A great price too. The 740's 3.2" barrel .40 cal results in some snappy recoil on the range with it -- especially if you have small hands. I strongly recommend buying some extra magazines, some magazine grip extensions, and maybe even a grip sleeve or shooting glove for it to help manage the recoil. Great Bud's service processing and fulfilling my order!

So much that I am impressed with after purchasing this gun. The size, power, accuracy, weight, and the price. Also, it always takes two days from the time ordering, to pick up. Would definitely recommend.

Really like this pistol for concealed carry. Light and slim. Would highly recommend a grip extension even though my hands are not large, my "pinkie" extended below the magazine.

Good little gun for concealed carry, Great Price. Shipped Super Fast, Very Happy with the Gun. I've but about 50 rounds through it with no issues. Gun seems well made, great size, and packs a punch. Although it is a 40 S&W, recoil is not bad. Gun ships with one magazine, additional magazines are a bit expensive. The one I bought does not fit in the magazine well without some effort. I keep it inserted as my first mag to avoid any slowdown on reload.

The Taurus PT740 Slim 6+1 40S&W is an awesome gun. It is almost the same size as the Walther PPK or Walther PPK/S. But this gun does not use .380 ACP or 9 mm but a .40 S&W, which is almost equal to a powerful 10 mm. This gun is very comfortable for Target and Range shooting. This is very good self defensive handgun. I highly recommend this gun and for the price, it is a better bang for the buck !!

The PT740 is a nice light concealed carry weapon. I wear it using an inside the belt holster and can forget it's their sometimes. I sighted mine in at 10 yards with a paper target, then shot at an 8" steel circle target. Got 10 out of 10 hits at 10 yrds, 9 out of 10 at 15 yds, and 3 out of 5 at 25 yrds. I find the trigger to be a decent pull and very pleased that it comes back to the set point without a 1/2" travel like a lot of double actions. It does kick, but a firm two handed grip handles it well (at least for me - I'm 72). I will hit my trigger finger on the front of the guard on occasion but not enough discomfort to stop me from shooting it. I have been shooting re-manufactured lead loads at the steel target and have had no failures so far. Great gun at a great price.

Great job by Buds on the fast delivery, it was my first time buying a gun online. gun looks and works good. but, when I took the gun to the range I had 2 failures to feed on a 100rd test. I did clean the gun before going to the range. I am planning go again to brake the gun since i will be using it as a daily carry.

Here's the deal. The gun shoots fine and for the most part is what I expected. However, it only comes with one magazine and it is next to impossible to find additional magazines anywhere and when you do they are incredibly expensive. Because of that I sold the gun. But to focus on the product itself the gun functioned flawlessly, the recoil is substantial as expected. I would have kept the gun but the extra magazine issue and costs compared to the price of the gun itself was just too frustrating.

I'm very happy with this product. It's perfect for CHL holders and also a great firearm to take to the range for practice. They also have a lifetime warranty card you can send to the Taurus(the manufacturer) in Miami Florida.

I bought the PT740 online and picked it up at Bud's Store in Lexington, KY. A friend of mine and myself shot (at Bud's relatively new and nice indoor gun range where you can rent full-auto's to fire there too) around 100 rounds each through it straight out of the box without any problems at all. No FTF's or FTE's at all. It does kick pretty good and the gun tends to move around quite a bit during rapid fire which makes it hard to stay on target. This can, of course, be rectified with regular practice. It is really light, slim, and easy to conceal, even in your pocket (not recommended without a pocket holster). If you do intend to carry this as your CCW gun....you should probably consider carrying an extra clip due to the 6 1 max with only one clip. When you can find an extra clip, they are more expensive than for most other comparable guns. I personally think that the .40 S&W is the most effective round out there but in this small package you need to practice more than with most other semi-auto rounds (just my opinion). Overall I like the gun, it has never failed me yet with over 500 rounds through it. I have since added at Crimson Trace trigger guard laser sight to it. That definitely makes me feel more comfortable in low light conditions. As a gun by itself, I give it a 5. As a total concealed carry package weapon, I think it would be easier to put up with a thicker gripped double stacked 13-14 round weapon that eliminates having to carry the extra magazine, so for that reason only I give it a 4.

I recently purchased the Taurus PT740. The size, weight, and recoil are all very pleasant. I have, however, experienced a very high number of Failure to fires. Out of 150 rounds, I probably had 40-50 misfires. The firing pin marks the bullet but does not fire. I have completely torn the pistol down and cleaned 3 times and still experience this problem. I will be sending the pistol back to be repaired to clear up this issue. I don't want to be misfiring in a time of need. Especially when this was purchased for Concealed Carry protection.

The plastic storage case came broken - one of the lock tabs was completely broken off. Second, the gun only comes with one magazine. I suspected this, but nothing makes it clear - even Taurus web site does not state what is in the box. Now for the main bugaboo - this gun broke on the 18th shot! Extractor completely gone and the polymer frame below it is cracked!! I was shooting Remington UMC 180 grain FMJ loads, and nothing felt different about the shot. This was the last round in the magazine, and the shell was ejected and slide locked back, but the extractor was simply gone - never did find it. This happened on the first day I owned the gun, and now I have to pay to ship it back for warranty and deal with the aggravation and wait time. Shooting impressions - not too bad, but I wasn't raving over it. Accuracy was good. Definitely snappier recoil than my same-size (but heavier) Firestar .40, and despite the elongated trigger guard, it did somewhat bark the lower part of my trigger finger just in front of the trigger. I do have very large hands (big, but not fat or flabby), so this may have contributed to this issue. The 740 and my old Firestar have almost identical overall measurements, but the slightly different grip position and shape of the Firestar make its ergonomics far better than the 740. The "Slim" feel of the grip felt almost toy like. Wish I had bought something else.
