just a basic ak47 there’s definitely better quality and better looking aks out there but it shoots and functions well. Oh yea Buds Guns Rocks!

Accurate AK varient, never had any issues, went bang everytime. The only issue I had was the dust cover button had some burs that needed to be filed and touched up with a bluing pen. The finish is ok but cheap looking but functional and matte in appearance. Overall great gun.

This rifle seems well made. This is my first AK pattern rifle, so I have no comparison. I liked the stock and comfortable, rubberized grip. The function was fine, even with cheap ammo. Once sighted in, it was reasonably accurate. I like the railed fore-end with rubber covers. The only negative I have is the rails are not parallel to the barrel axis. I was not able to zero the optic I mounted.

I love this firearm. It is a go to for fun. The forend is not the best combination (rubber suspended around a hot barrel and gas tube), the pistol grip (hogue) is fantastic and comfortable all day long. This firearm will eat any ammo with any mags. Perfect definition of what an AK should be.

Fit and finish was lacking. Fires fine.

Bought this as my first AK. Loved it. Took my Vietnam vet friend shooting. He said it was the most accurate rifle he'd seen since VN. Great gun!!

Love this thing put close to 2k rounds thru it and it goes bang every time. Fairly accurate at 100 yds. Good all around easy to upgrade.

This was the first time I ordered from Buds. Very easy step by step process. I'm sure this wont be the last time. Thank you.

I have not fired this rifle yet as I fear for my safety. The gas tube DOES.NOT.FIT. It arrived essentially wedged into place instead of "fitted" as it should be. Apparently this is a common problem and most AK owners end up filing down the rear portion of the gas tube to actually have a proper fit/snug fit.
Currently the gas tube is zipped tied in place so as to not lose it. Essentially I was shipped a non functioning firearm. It arrived with plenty of cardboard material in it's internals and externals. It was extremely sticky from the anti-corrosion and needed immediate cleaning for both reasons stated here. The safety is also VERY stiff and requires bending/filing to be of any real use in an emergency.
Out of the box it does not feel worth the money, but I will keep it and customize it until I'm satisfied.

This was the first gun I ever purchase. Upon receiving at my local shooting range, both the guy at the counter and I inspected it and found it perfectly fine. When I first used it, the first shot sent what I assume was the muzzle brake or the “tip” flying off. I did not realize this had happened until after I finished shooting. Solid gun, fun to use, but I was unfortunate to get a bad one. Will contact the manufacturer.

Factory new? Mine arrived in surplus condition at best. Bolt carrier was rusty, dented, and all scratched up it took me two days of sanding and polishing to free it up enough to shoot. I almost sent it back this rifle should not have been shipped in this condition. The rest of rifle looks like it’s twenty years old but does function well.

This is an economical AK. That being said, it is a machine. It shoots without failures, but isn't very refined like other more expensive AK's. Certainly a fun plinker.

While I owned the rifle it was an excellent starter AK. Never had an issue, relatively accurate, and then sold it to fund another project. However, a good buy and worth it.

At the time of this review, I have owned and used this rifle for over 5 years. It may not even be available anymore but here is my review of my base model. Reliability: I would like to pick out FTF or FTE issues with this budget rifle, but I cannot find a single issue with reliability in my rifle. It is rugged and has been through some tough trials by me and several friends. It's had dirt, mud, water, and sand put inside, both on purpose and unknowingly during the years that I've used it. Weight: My rifle weighed more than listed. It wasn't by much, but it is still a lighter rifle than some others that I've owned. I can comfortably practice shooting it with one arm. Cost/Value: Compared to several other rifles in today's market, I would say it fairs better for the same price. It has several good features for the price range. For the money, I wouldn't resist buying another one. This rifle is well worth the money if you can find it under $650 anymore. Accuracy: A barrel with chrome lining doesn't always mean terrible accuracy. With a simple red dot sight, I was able to group some Wolf and Tula 122gr, 123gr, and 124gr bullets from as wide as 4-1/2" to as tight as 2" on paper at 100yds. My rifle likes the lighter rounds for sure. Wolf did the best groups with the 122gr HP rounds. A word of advice, be aware of the scope mount on the side being higher than a standard AKM. The quad rail up front is what I used most for optics. The RPK sights are a nice touch but the sight radius is short. Furniture/Aesthetics: My rifle has a basic Warsaw Pact polymer buttstock. The rifle has durable, aluminum hand-guards that work well for what it is. There are machining marks throughout the rifle's internals but it doesn't affect performance in the slightest. The Hogue pistol grip is a huge improvement on the rifle and fits like a glove. The muzzle device is short and thick. It has a distinct twang after each shot but it is not obnoxious like the Razor device. The Bad: The finish on my particular rifle was thin and rough. For the cost and time period, I didn't expect much. My rifle showed slight rusting if left in the rain or water for a few days and not dried off, but nothing a few wipes of oil can't fix. The sight radius is much shorter than the usual AK rifle and doesn't do itself any favors shooting past 200 yards. The hand-guards are aluminum and scuff easily. It may also affect accuracy in your rifle as it clamps to the barrel. The safety lever was too tight but was fixed easily after some light sanding. The scope mount is installed higher than the usual Bulgy or Russian which means that a "chin-weld" is the usual with the standard stock. I don't care for this mount. And nothing on the rifle had loctite. Get a blue bottle ready for sure. All in all, this rifle will take some time and TLC and if you're not a "hands-on" kind of person; get a higher end rifle. This rifle has some quirks and is rough around the edges. It could use some TLC and some paint. It reminds me of a WASR (minus the magwell issues) but with upgrades. After years of use and abuse, this rifle has proven itself to me as a reliable option for my needs. And with a little elbow grease, this rifle feels like a higher priced AK. I would recommend this rifle to anyone.

A solid performer, thousands of rounds through this Ak with NO problem/s what so ever.

I absolutely love this rifle! I took it to the range and blew through 700 rounds in a single trip, just having a blast with it! I'm surprised by it's accuracy, at 150 meters it was hitting a small steel plate as fast as I could reacquire the target. At 200 meters it was hitting anything I decided to aim at. It's not a MOA range queen, but it does exactly what it was designed to do. I got the temperatures up during those 700 rounds, and not a single hiccup. I installed a red dot, and was nailing 2 inch pieces of wood at 100 meters. The only problem I've run into is that this rifle doesn't like most AK magazines. They won't seat in the mag well, and therefore won't lock into place. What I did was took a file and sanded the locking nob on the mags down just a tiny bit, and viola, they work like a charm! Sadly, it did this with nearly every mag I bought, from Magpul to you name it, although the slight sanding fixed them all too, so I'm not worried about it. Don't even bother with steel mags, I've yet to get one to fit properly, but polymer work like a charm once sanded. That wasn't even close to enough to turn me off of this awesome rifle, not even enough to drop a star from the 5 this thing deserves. Bud's was great as always!

Awesome rifle! I've fired 500 rounds through it so far using silver bear ammo and no problems what so ever! I defiantly recommend this Ak...if and when it becomes available again. Purchasing was fast easy and painless.. I had my rifle in hand all within a week and I live in Las Vegas Nevada. Will be making more purchases in the very near future.

Not a terrible rifle. It fires and cycles round well. My only critique is how difficult it can be to change out a magazine. At times it has taken me close to 45 seconds to change magazines. Sometimes the magazine won't seat right either and requires me to release the magazine and retry.

I’m very happy with this rifle. I almost went with the C39 but I have done a lot of research before I pulled the trigger on this one and it payed off. Awesome quality at reasonable price, no malfunctions after 500 rounds right out of the box and the fact it has the ability for upgrades without modifications was very appealing. I HIGHLY recommend the purchase of this rifle. I love it so much I may end up buying another one. Thank you Buds for sending me my bay fast without any issues. This gun is awesome and definitely worth the money. If you are on a budget and looking for an ak, than look no further. As soon as I opened the box and held this rifle, it superseded my expectations and I was eager to shoot it. I got it out to the range and blew through about 300 rounds with no misfires. Gun was pretty much zeroed in out of the box. This gun is amazing. It's not an arsenal, or the best ak in the world, but you get a good quality ak for the price. Again, If your on a budget like I am, this is what you want. The rivets where all seated well and the finish isn't too bad. The barrel was just a hair and I do mean just a hair to the left. Not enough to effect the performance of it or to have to send it back. When buying an ak at this price, there is always going to be some imperfections. So don't buy this or any other low cost ak and expect it to be an arsenal. This rifle is very nice and I recommend this to anyone wanting an ak on a tight budget. Thank you to Buds Gun Shop!

I have to agree about the buttstock pad loosening up, but im getting the phoenix kicklight stock on it, im so used to ar stocks it just doesnt feel right when I put it on my shoulders, theres a gap if i dont focus, I wanted it with the quad raid but when I saw the hogue foregrip I absolutely fell in love with it, and you can put rails with it if you want, which i plan to do so, the safety is hard to disengage but ive noticed the more I move it back n forth the easier it gets, so its kinda like you have to grind it in, which i don't mind at all, the sights were not aligned, front is way to the left, back was not centered but no biggie, practice makes perfect eh? :) I absolutely love this gun, for the price i'm a happy camper, i dont really mind the scratches, its meant for a beating anyways, all in all I love the rifle, it came with a tapco waffle mag which in the past it didnt recommend them, theres absolutely no wobble with it and the regular tapco ones either, ill find out if they feed good soon, will be shooting it today.

ordered this ak on a thursday received it on tuesday. the gun was very ugly out of the box. the buffer pad on the stock was falling off. the bolt sticks open, the sights were canted both front and rear. there were scratches all over and metal shavings all in the receiver and chamber and down the barrel. the ak was packed in cosmoline as well. gave it a good cleaning and took it to the range. the gun actually performed flawlessly. put 60 rounds through it with magpul pmags no ftf or fte. last 30 round mag was as fast as i could shoot trying to get a ftf or fte. using the tapco mags was a different story lol. just throw them away like everyone says to do. with the canted sights i was still able to get a 25 yard zero. havent tested it out to 100 yards yet but im sure it will do just fine. i actually kinda like this gun now because at first i was like "what have i got myself into" and "i need to send this garbage back". now ive put a ctr stock with vltor tube and a mi extended ss rail and this is my new go to gun. if you dont mind an ugly gun that performs, i say go for it and get it now before prices go up again.

As always great and fast service from buds. This is the 16th or so weapon I've purchased from buds and they have yet to let me down. I got this at a GREAT price. When I picked up my rifle from my local FFL it was a little greasy but barrel was clean enough to not blow up in my face so I ran 30 rounds of very cheap ammo thru it with 2 different brands of mags. The rifle ran perfectly, never missed a beat. Nice trigger. Only con was that the safety isn't easily disengaged but that's better than fall to the fire position I guess. I will soon purchase another. Not a 5 star only because its not perfect or clean (which I was expecting it with grease)
