Excellent firearm, A+++! Highly recommended.

Well built with a very good parkerized finish. I'm glad I bought this one when I did as I expect to keep it for a long time.

This shotgun is stout and handles well. It's heavy enough to take a lot of the sting out of recoil on long days at the range. No problems at all and it'll shoot any brand of shells you feed it as long as they are the correct shells. (Gotta throw the disclaimer in these days!!)

I always go back to this particular gun. I don't know what there is about it. I guess I like the old fashioned wood furniture and the parkerized finish. Also the new choke is supposed to be better. Then, at 61 years of age, my eyes aren't what they were and it tales a couple of seconds to focus on a rifle sight. I like the bead sight on a shotgun because it is so quick to access. Disregard the fact that it only holds 4 rounds in the tube. As my shooting instructor used to say, if you can't do it with 4 shotgun rounds, then you probably can't do it. Then, the wood stock makes for a pretty good improvised club if you need it to. Last, I just like the looks of wood and steel. In closing, you will never go wrong with this gun. It will serve you more than well. With a little bit of decent treatment, you'll be handing this gun down to one of your grandkids. It is well worth the investment.

This is my 2nd Police 870 from Buds. This time I didn't want the extended magazine, to make barrel changing easier. I have already bought a 30" barrel from Buds, and an extended choke...making a very fine hunting and trap gun. Btw, the factory recoil pad was hard rubber, not Rem supercell, so I rectified that right away. You can't have too many beautiful, tough Rem 870 Police models! Thank you Buds! What a stunningly beautiful shotgun, and 130 firearms later, I buy this on a whim of reminiscing about days long gone, when the fit and finish of men and women, who built firearms with pride, care, love, and a desire to pass something along could be considered a familial legacy for many generations. Well, here is one of those guns. It is beautiful, with wood that belongs on a Weatherby, the line at Remington who built this gun should be so proud, God fearing Americans, and nothing short of that I am, so honored to have this 18 Inch standard 870 Police Magnum with a collection of the finest custom firearms in the world. I don't get it, it's not supposed to happen, I received the Willie Wonka Chocolate Factory Golden Ticket in a Walnut Police Magnum Shotgun, and simply say thank you to Remington, my friends at Buds, and offer that at Remington, there remains a level of pride on that LE and Military line that is everything good about American Manufacturing and pride in craftsmanship.

Classic R870P model. Slick out of the box, shoots any buck slug or bird I've tried. Runs like a top watch. No QC issues of note. They say the 870Ps are still good guns even with the current Remington QC drama. I agree, this is a great shotgun built to last . The walnut stock I got was handsome as all get out with amazing figure. The 4-shot tube handles wonderfully and is enough to stop most threats for sure. Still great to see an American company making a tough as nails riot gun. The only thing it needs is a 1960s style leather or web sling to have a retro police look. If you plan to go with an extension, don't buy this model and just get the one with the Remington +2 extension which is excellent. For most defensive duties though 4+1 will be enough. Many police departments still use these simple 870 riot guns to this day no add ons and usually plastic stocks. They still get the job done!!

I've been buying Remington 870s since the sixties and I love the gun. This model has an exceptional action, smooth as glass, the fit of the stock however was a disappointment. The wood stuck up about 3/16" above the receiver on the top side, but fit every place else. This aside it's a great gun.

Received my Rem 870 Police Magnum and am very pleased with it. It shoots great and love the wood furniture. Comfortable to shoot and well balanced.

Just received my 2016 edition of the Remington Police Magnum. The fit and finish is outstanding, the action is very smooth, the balance w/out an extended mag is good, the front bead is visible (better than you would think), and the "old school" wood furniture is outstanding (just got tired of black, or any tacti-cool military colored plastic). I have had two of these in the past (used LE trade-ins) and this one looks and feels just like those. As always Bud's service is excellent--buy this LE model with confidence...

With Remington's rep in the toilet, I was really loath to buy a new Remington product. That's coming from a Remington fan from way back. I read the reviews on this shotgun, and thought I was buying a real Rem of the new old stock variety, and not a Freedom Group Rem abortion. I took a shot and it backfired on me. The one Bud's sent we was a brand new 2016 model with a 200 year sticker in the box. While I was not happy that the gun I received was a new one, and not an old one like at least one review claimed. The good news is that the new Remington 870P shotguns are still top line guns. Fit is perfect, perfect even park, action is smooth, walnut is nicely figured and fit well, and the bore is mirror polished inside. I have an Express tactical I bought a few years ago that is a FG Rem. This 870P makes that one look like garbage. So I am not too angry about not getting a NOS gun. This gun is built like they were back in the day when all Rem was good. This gun would be at home in a patrol car, doing home duty around the house, or butt stroking dirty hippies. It gratifies me that someone at Remington can still build a gun that doesn't look like a monkey made it. She's a top notch gun, so don't be afraid of buying this gun new. It's every bit as good as older Remingtons. Side note: For butt stroking dirty hippies, I would recommend replacing the recoil pad with something harder. It's a soft squishy rubber that does wonders in dampening felt recoil, especially nitro turkey loads I used for test firing.

The 870 police shotgun is the BEST slide action on the market. It is solid and reliable and is far more practical than a semi auto, which are prohibitively expensive. Since most shotgun related confrontations end with one round being fired, the semi auto is overkill. The 870 police gun also has a better finish, trigger grouping and shell follower than cheaper versions or other makers. For home defense, forget about tactical rifles, etc.. and invest the extra bucks in this gun. You won't regret it, and it may someday save your life. Buds as, always, has great customer service.

The Remington Model 870 Police is everything I expected in a severe duty shotgun and more!

I ordered on Monday and then it was at my FFL by Wed at 6pm. I am very pleased with this shotgun. It has the parkarized finish and the wood is nicer in person I think. I opted for the lifetime warranty but being the police model I don't think I will ever have to use it since its built like a tank! Thanks buds for great service and thanks to Remington for still making a quality shotgun!

Couldn't have asked for a nicer pump shotgun. Parkerizing is even and consistent throughout and the wood furniture gives it a nice look. (I really like the wood furniture since it doesn't reek of "tacticool" like black synthetics do.) Added a GG&G mag follower and a factory Remington +2 extension and I'm done modifying it. Just be certain to read Remington's recommendations about initial treatment of the parkerized finish; namely, clean finished metal surfaces well and saturate with oil (wipe off excess oil after an hour or so) and your investment is well protected from the elements.

First shotgun and couldn't be happier with my choice. I did my research before I bought this, and Remington 870s have a long history and reputation. The Police model is a higher quality, comes in a parkerized finish, and more. I wanted a reliable gun that will last, and I got one.

This 870 Police is a very well made weapon, with excellent finish and function. I also have the 870 express version of this gun, which is also a pretty good gun for the money and great for HD. However, after using both, I personnaly think it is worth paying a little more and getting the police grade. This gun is Literally, the most bang for the buck! Bud's prices are consistently the best, and with free shipping you can't go wrong.

Got this Remington Police Magnum 12 gauge for home defense. I use 000 buck and lead slugs staggered (1st shot 000, followed by a slug, alternating for 5 shots). Maybe someday I'll pick up the model with the factory 2 shot magazine extension, but after firing this model, I didn't and don't think I need one at the moment... Took this baby to the range the other day and shot at a couple of zombie paper targets at varying distances (from 20 to 50 feet; longer than any corridor in my house). It was an indoor range that I use near where I live: Lead rounds from shotguns and rifles that shoot hand gun rounds are allowed there___ Put about 35 shots through it at the range... Don't want to sound overly excited, but WOW!!! There's definitely a big kick with both the 000 buck and the slugs, but holy cow can it throw the lead down range! It turned a lot of heads at the range and when the targets came back from any distance the results were astonishing. Wouldn't want to be at the muzzle end of this bad boy... the sound of the pump being worked alone is often enough to turn any intruder the other direction and I can see why. It arrived in the factory box, well packed and ready to go. The shotgun hasn't misfired, jammed, had a feeding issue, or any other kind of issue since I've been firing it. Further, it disassembles and cleans in a snap: Super Easy! A ***** 5-star shot gun at a good price from Bud's who handled my transfer with the utmost care and efficiency. Thanks a bunch... Look forward to buying from you guys again :-)
