Can't say enough positive things about the 597. Although I replaced the scope that it came with, you can hit your target fine after sighting it in. My only problem with the scope is that the dials seem to get bumped out of position VERY easily- but not a Bud's problem at all, that's on Remington. The gun shipped quick, I picked it up at my FFL 3 days after the order processed. This is 9-10 guns from Bud's and every one has arrived quick and precisely as described. Comes with 1 10 round mag and a standard lock and paperwork inside a cardboard box. The 597 is a tack driver. It doesn't seem to like the Winchester X 40 grain 1300 FPS ammo, it went through just about every other kind we had without a problem. Winchester X would fail to eject a couple times each magazine. Will keep on trying it and see if that changes over time. Great gun for squirrels and general varmint control or just the casual paper targets. A great gun and a lot of fun!

The item arrived pretty fast. The FLL was really good. The gun was in perfect condition.

Remington 597 is a nice 22 rifle with a scope and only one magazine. When it arrived, there was a scratch on the gun, and when I pulled back on the operating handle it came off in my hand. I was not happy. My boy and I just came back from the range, and my son likes this 22 rifle. I adjusted the scope and my son was hitting the bulls-eye. The only problem we had was the magazine did get jammed. I reloaded the magazine and the rifle was working fine. I wish the magazine was a better quality.

Like others have said on here the "bore sight" part is non-existent. Not only was it off by 1.5 feet left and 6-8 inches low, the scope was mounted crooked ! Thought Remington would have some better quality control than this. Hope my next Remington (1911 stainless) is a lot better. After a quick reset and bore sight and about 10-15 rounds I finally got it zero'd in. Now it shoots nice 1-1.5 inch groups. Overall a nice lil 22lr for the price to go out and have some fun with.

Rifle will shoot decent groups out of the box with many different types of ammo.
