Great price and gun it's already increased in value from the manufacturer by 300 dollars than what paid buds takes care of the customer

I have wanted a Mini-14 since they came out and it didn't disappoint. This will be my SHTF gun. It will do anything an AR can do. Beautifully made and finished.

Ruger mini 14 arrived at FFL dealer in just 4 days in perfect condition so I ordered a Ruger gp100 and also arrived in perfect condition. Good experience with Buds gun shop and will use again. FFL dealer had positive comments about Buds

A great shooting Ruger. The semi auto action is fun. Wood stock is beautiful.

This gun has been around for awhile now and still a favorite. It would be hard not to own one and the blue steel and wood make it even better.

What can I say that hasn't already been said about this rifle. Purchased to repel egg-sucking chicken-stealing henhouse raiders.

Great service and prompt shipping. Great job Bud's. Have not taken the firearm to the range as of yet but it is exactally what I have been searching for.

I bought this Ruger model 5801 (with two 5 round magazines) because the 5816 I wanted (with two 20 round magazines) was not available anywhere. A call to Ruger Customer Service revealed that the two models are identical except for the magazines that come with them, so I bought this 5801 AND three additional Genuine Ruger 20 round magazines from Buds. This rifle, when used with 20 round magazines worked flawlessly. However, neither of the 5 round magazines worked properly as they would NOT insert into the rifle when fully loaded. So I called Ruger Customer service again and they immediately agreed to swap the two worthless 5 round magazines for one more Genuine Ruger 20 rounder. I definitely recommend this model 5801 AS LONG AS you plan to use it with the Genuine Ruger 20 round magazines. Ruger Customer Service is great! Thank you Ruger and thank you Buds.

For those of you who were GI's in the 60's and qualified on the USA M-14, this weapon will feel quite familiar. It has a remarkably similar heft and feel, and the positive action of the bolt closing sounds much like the original M-14. One difference you might appreciate is the softer recoil of the .223 round. I'm shooting 55 grain American Eagle from Federal and at about 75 yards and open sights, standing, I can put all five rounds within 3 inches of center. The action is smooth and positive. One thing to beware of is the clip release lever spring is quite strong and offers a pinch point if your not careful.
I've owned a gun of some sort since I was 10 years old, and this is unequivocally the best rifle I've ever owned.

Don't hesitate, BUY ONE NOW! Ruger has made the necessary improvements on the new mfgd Mini 14's, accuracy, solid trigger, full LOP", good peep sights, while retaining it's reputation for 100% reliability. I was never an AR guy, had them/sold them years ago, the Mini 14 was the answer. Thanks Ruger and Thanks AGAIN Bud's, neither disappoint!

I’ve been wanting a blued mini 14 with a wood stock since I was a teenager. I had purchased a stainless mini 14 some years back but it just wasn’t the same so I sold it. Then when I saw Samson was making the A-Team folding stock I just had to get my mini 14. Only put 50 rounds through it so far and smiled with each round that went down range.

Great communication and reasonably fast shipping to my FFL.
Rifle looks great, and can't wait to try it out at the range!

I’m not a fan of the looks of ARs. I realize the AR platform is probably more practical and economical. However, for my needs, this Mini-14 does everything I require. It’s more than accurate enough for me. Also, it’s not scary looking for non-gun folks. I love shooting it, a definite keeper.

Exactly the rifle I was looking for, but a lot more fun. When it comes to firearms, I'm not real "tacti-cool", and I prefer the look and feel of more traditional firearms, especially rifles. The Ruger Mini-14 Ranch rifle was exactly what I was looking for. A semi-auto rifle in .223/5.56 that looks like a traditional hunting rifle. This rifle fits that to a T. The rifle came with 2 - 5rd magazines, 1" scope rings, sight adjustment tools, and a short picatinny rail to mount the rings. The only downside was that the supplied blue loctite was pretty much all dried up. I guess these things spend a lot of time on the shelf before they are purchased. I have had it to the range several times, and have put several hundred rounds down the pipe, and not only is it versatile ammo-wise, it is extremely fun to shoot! Plus, with the availability of cheap .223 ammo, it won't bust the budget, which is a BIG plus for a center fire rifle. I bought two other magazines, a Ruger 20-rd and a PMag 30 rd. I was hesitant to buy the PMag because of the negative reviews of non-Ruger magazines. I can say that they are possibly warranted. The Ruger magazines worked flawlessly, whereas the PMag had two FTF's the first time I used it. I oiled it and gave it another shot, and it only had one FTF. I'll continue to work with it, but will probably stick with Ruger mags in the future. The rifle is well made, with typical Ruger quality, and it is easy to field-strip and clean. I'm looking forward to many years of fun with this rifle.

I've owned LOTS of AR-based rifles, a couple of M1As and thought I would try a Mini 14 for a change. Honestly, I like the idea of it being less "controversial" these days. I was not expecting great things but I am very impressed so far. The rifle looks better than I though it would - the stock is well finished and the barrel and action are robust and solid. It is very similar to M1As in that the trigger guard serves as the release for removing the action from the stock, etc. It shoots very well - you aren't going to put a high power scope on it and shoot silhouettes from 500 yards, but out to 100-200 yards, it's the equal in practical terms of my ARs. It's better than I am. The rifle is very compact and light - this would make a great all-purpose/survival rifle for small to medium game. I bought a couple of 20 round magazines (30 rd mags are available) and I've blazed through 10 of those so far without a FTF or jam. Buds got it to my FFL without drama, followed up with e-mails, and gave me a great price. All in all a terrific rifle for the money and a great deal at Buds.

Recently purchased a mini-14 ranch rifle from Bud's. As usual Bud's was great in dealing with. Received rifle promptly and in excellent condition. Very impressed with fit and finish..Of course it's a Ruger. First I cleaned rifle then went to range and fired 100 rounds using aperture sights. Did ok at 75 yards for aging eyes. Thought rifle could do better so I installed a Nikon 3X9X40 Buckmaster scope. Forget all the comments on poor accuracy. This new 580 series is awesome. After getting scope zeroed, consistently shot 1" to 1 1/2" groups at 100 yards. Decided to try 200 yards and was very impressed. Shot 1 1/2" to 2" groups on bags. It's not as inaccurate as people say about the mini -14.. Of course had to let barrel cool after 5-6 shots.Overall I am very impressed and satisfied with the rifle and Bud's. I would recommend this rifle to anyone who wants a fun rifle to plink or hunt with. It's not a match grade rile. It's a ranch rifle..It does what it's supposed too..

The gun was received just as described, I used Bud's 90 day layaway it was great to receive it. I took it to the range and it worked great, felt really point-able I'm not exactly sure why but it handled very nicely. For the range an ease of use I'm not a fan of pistol grips, at least not on semi-auto's. The sights were spot on with no adjustments needed interestingly enough the group was almost a perfect horizontal line about 5 inch from left to right with almost no vertical deviation granted I was only shooting at about 30 feet off hand. I was shooting 4 other guns 3 pistols so I didn't move the target, but I'm sure I could get consistent hits 80 yards since elevation is usually the most difficult part. I was however quite disappointed that neither of my 20 round ruger factory magazines would function, the 2 five round mags worked flawlessly, so I pretty sure it was not the gun. The bolt would move forward about 1 cm and stop I could jimmy it forward to get it to chamber, fire, it would eject the brass them move forward a bit and get stuck. I tried to jimmy it and the round bent and got stuck for about 30 seconds so I just kept stopping to refill the 5 round mags. Everyone told me to use only factory mags and there are plenty of rave reviews about how reliable the Ruger mags are, so there is no reason the larger mags shouldn't work. I think it is the mags so I'm going to send them back, but this is why I am giving 4 stars

Great rifle - wanted the wood stock for the more traditional military wood stock rifle look. I've put about 300 rounds down range in the little over a week I've had it, I'm dialed in at 50 yards with a tight enough group for a 63 year old. I'll start moving out to 100 yards soon. Rifle has cycled everything I've fed it: commercial .223 and 5.56 and re-loaded .223. My only fail to ejects/fail to feed have been from an aftermarket 10 round magazine, Ruger mags have run flawlessly. My first trip to the range, the Ruger rear sight loosened up on me after some adjustments (probably my fault) - I've since replaced that with a Tech Sight rear peep. Easier to field strip and clean than my M1 Garand! This rifle is in my top three to shoot - the other two are the M1 Garand and M1 Carbine.... however, the Mini 14 is much cheaper to fed than the other two!!

Always wanted a .223 / 5.56 semi auto. I wanted the more traditional look of a wood stock instead of the hi tech / sci fi look of M4 / M16 type rifles. I took my Mini 14 rifle to the range for the first time yesterday and couldn't be more pleased. Fired 200 rounds without one jam. For a weapon with iron sights, It is surprisingly accurate at 200 yards. The only minor drawback that comes to mind is magazine insertion takes a little time to master. It kind of has to be put in on a slight angle, and swung into place. Removal is no problem, just hit the release and the magazine will drop free. The only recommendation I would make is to change out the rear peep sight that comes with the rifle. Although I stayed with a peep sight. I installed one that is much easier to focus on and adjust than the original equipment Ruger sight. Overall, I am pleasantly surprised by the performance of this rifle and will be putting another one on lay away soon.

This may be the finest rifle on the market. Sadly, Buds shipping is unbelievably slow. The Mini is superb at running every type of ammo I fed it. Buds customer service will feed you a lot of BS. While buying extra mags can be expensive, I believe their worth it. Both the Ruger brand, and the aftermarket cheepies. Did I mention, that Buds will not ship your rifle for 2 weeks? Sportsman's Guide will ship in one day. My Mini 14 is my favorite of favorites...I don't know why it took so long for me to get one. Wait, I do know. Buds slow shipping and horrible customer service. Never buying here again. Ruger...Thank you. Bud's, not so much.

I love my mini-14! I was very familiar with the Mini-14 before my purchase and have wanted one for a while. Bud's price was right and the transaction was smooth. Rifle is as expected... reliable and really fun to shoot! If you haven't shot the Mini-14, it's a real treat. Soft recoil, reliable action, and while some think It's not very attractive, I think it has a LOT of character and charm. This is a favorite, for sure.

I ordered this rifle back around 10/20/17 and just picked it up a few days ago from my FFL. Sadly, upon arriving home I found the rifle had several major issues including blemishing on the barrel as well as multiple splits in the wooden stock around the handle/trigger area. I can't emphasize enough the importance of examining the firearm at the FFL before leaving to go home. I am now having to work with Ruger to hopefully get a replacement. I don't want to be overly negative as I could have just gotten a bad one that may have been damaged in transit during shipping. Defects aside, it is a great quality firearm.
