Great gun. Runs great with 357 or 38. I really enjoy the size.

This revolver is a beauty. Only negatives are the grip and “night sights”. I’m changing those. But feels solid, looks great. Very happy with my purchase. Buds was fast as usual.

This was my first purchase from Bud’s and I can’t believe how nice and easy it was. My 586 L-comp hasn’t had any problems since I received it. It has fired reloads from when my grandpa had his service revolver to modern day self defense loads. Double action is a lot heavier than I anticipated. Single action is very crisp. Sights do leave something to be desired but mine were accurate out of the box. Overall I would recommend the 586 L-Comp.

Out the box, it was not firing off most of the rounds in the moonclip. Check the strain screw if you have this problem. The trigger pull is a little heavier than I thought it was going to be, after I adjusted the strain screw.. It now is reliable and igniting all rounds factory and reloads. Competed in a couple of ICORE matches and have been pleased with this revolver. I think it is worth every cent and recommend this to anyone.

A little disappointed for a supposed hand built gun. Looks great, but on further inspection, the forcing cone had very sharp burrs on the inside and the outside. I figured if they missed something as simple as that what about the rest of the gun. I took the gun to a very good gunsmith to have him go through the whole gun. I will update after I get it back.

A fantastic revolver, I had some trouble at first with accuracy, but that was because I was used to firing with a full grip, I switched to the rubber grip that comes with the gun and I was driving nails with it. A very beautiful revolver and well worth the money. Not terribly hard to conceal, I mostly roll shoulder holsters but OWB and IWB are possible. Night sight dot is pretty tiny but you can mostly pick it up. This revolver is well worth your money if you are a wheel gun fan.

If you’re debating on buying the L comp, just buy it. It is without a doubt 100% worth the higher price compared to other models of revolvers. Wasn’t sure how great the compensator would be with full house magnum loads but it is by far the sweetest shooting revolver I’ve shot. I bought this planing to carry it everyday during the winter season but I can quickly see this being carried often during the summer as well. The quality and finish is great, no tooling marks or issues like that. It comes with 2 moon clips that do a decent job at holding the rounds tight but different ammo loaders use different thickness necked brass so you will have to choose the corresponding moon clips if you want more. It was accurate and grouped as good as I could shoot it. In my opinion the 3”inch barrel is the best compromise for wanting to conceal carry this model gun comfortably. The grips are very nice and look even better in person. You will not be disappointed if you choose to pull the trigger on this 586 L Comp

Beautiful revolver, shoots great ,good fit in my hand. I like the heft of this revolver and it did not have near the kick I thought it would have with the 3' barrel, the kick was very manageable. Also Buds was great.

This is a beautiful gun. I love to carry it everywhere. I have had it for a few weeks, and I have shot over 300 rounds through it. I personally prefer to use moon clips with the gun. They help to stabilize the cartridges and prevent them from sliding around in the cylinder. It also performs flawlessly without moonclips. I have shot a variety of .357 Magnum and .38 Special cartridges, and all shoot fine. The gun is exactly as described and pictured. It arrived flawless at my FFL. I placed my order at Bud's on Friday and had the gun in my hands in Houston on Monday. Since then, I have ordered and received many boxes of ammo from Bud's, and all has gone very smoothly. This gun has really made me fall in love with revolvers, so I am looking forward to my next purchase from Bud's.

Be wary of barrel can’t when taking transfer. S&W method of screwing in the barrel apparently you leaves a wide spec for proper alignment of the barrel. I had one 586 l Comp sent out and it had a barrel that was sitting at about the 11:30-45 mark on a clock over screwed into the barrel. I sent that one back in a change for a different one. Receiving the second 586 the barrel is still not 100% in line with the frame but it is pretty close and seems to shoot just fine. I may still try to have S&W see if they can fix this thorough I’ve heard there is not much they do with this issue. As for the function of the 586 l Comp, it is a dream to shoot, the compensator truly does help to tame some of the hotter 357 magnum rounds, the trigger feels very nice and crisp, I love the wood grips on the gun but switch to the included hogue grips since I will be carrying the daily. Also it fits very well IWB and is more comfortable to carry then my XDs 4.0 Overall happy I am happy with the gun, just wish barrel alignments specs were tighter. 4/5

This is my second 586 L Comp. I had to send the first one back to S&W the day I picked it up because the cylinder would lock up intermittently, and I was unable to pull the trigger. When I got it back, took it to the range and oh what a sweet shooter this revolver is. The porting really helps tame the .357 loads, and it is the most accurate short barreled revolver I have. I decided to purchase a second one, and this one went right back to S&W again not only for the same problem, but also because the bluing on the revolver was uneven and actually coming off. S&W lack of quality control is inexcusable, especially on this PC line. I can't believe these revolvers made it out the factory doors in the condition the were in. Buyer beware...

About the only negative I can say about this S&W is the front sight tritium vial is tiny and hard to see. Other than that the gun is a home-run. Fit and finish are really nice. The matte finish has proven robust in nearly a year of carrying this revolver. Being cut for moon clips makes reloads relatively fast. The truncated grips are really conducive to concealed carry while also offering a good grip while shooting. It would be nice if they could cram a little bit larger night sight on the gun, but other than that I really enjoy this firearm as a range gun and self defense tool.

Tl;dr love the gun wish the front sight was better. Still suggest buying I order this revolver on a Sunday night. I had tracking Monday afternoon and the forearm delivered to my FFL and was picked up on Wednesday. Thursday I changed the wood grips to the included rubber hogue grips and went to the range. After 200rnds of 39spl and a few cylinders of 357 I can say with confidence this is one of the most comfortable well balanced revolvers I have ever had the pleasure to shoot. The fit and finish are superb and can honestly say I will never part with this gun. The bad would definitely be the front sight. The insert is just too small and with nothing to line up on the rear sight is almost useless at night.

Great revolver, really nice trigger and the weight isn't that bad, very happy with the revolver but the box it was shipped in is all broken and for $1100 you think the box would resemble the product. The box is so cheap it doesn't close proper and the hinges are bent and pretty much junk

The 586 L Comp is quite possibly the best CCW revolver made. Recoil with 38 special is non existent and even .357 magnum loads are much more tame. Trigger in DA is very smooth and the SA is perfect. I have experienced no issues in approximately 200 rounds, though that is a very extensive test. Very pleased with purchase and will buy again from Bud's.

Amazing quality! The only negative feedback is the sights. I cannot see the tritium insert and the black front sight on the black gun with the black rear blade just didn't work for me. I updated them with the XS Big Dots and it made a world of difference. First time trying Buds and only did so due to the support of Hickok 45 and his channel. Thanks for a great transaction!

I wasn't sure how I would like the matte blue finish on this gun but I have to admit I freaking love it. The rosewood grips are very nice but it does come with a rugger hogue grip. It also comes with a couple moon clips. Performance center did a nice job on this one. It has a great double action pull and a superb single action trigger. I'm very happy with this revolver. The fit and finish is what I have come to expect from S&W. Buds, as usual, was wonderful to deal with. I will happily continue to support Buds!
