Great AR. Best I've purchased for the money. 1" groups at 100 yards. No jams with all types of casing ammo.

The gun was delivered as advertised. It does seem to keep a tighter group with the heavier weighted bullets, but it shoots both .223 and 5.56 without any jams or misfeeds. I would recommend it to friends.

This is my first AR rifle and also first time buying with Buds. The experience with buds has been excellent and fast service. After having owned this MSR for a while I can say I'm very happy with the product. I've not had a single failure, the gun is accurate and down right mean!

Very nice, clean looking firearm. Shipping was quick and no problems on either side with Bud's or FFL. Rifle shoots like a champ.

I have nothing but good to say about this rifle. I didn't use the iron sights (slapped a red dot on it immediately). Tested its accuracy at 50 and 100 yards. No issues at either distance. In fact, it was dead on.
Had no issues with jamming, even using steel. For the price, this is definitely a rifle you don't want to pass on

Great rifle. Shoots 1moa groups with decent ammo. Trigger us very nice, crisp with a short solid reset. Couldn't be happier at this price point.

If you have purchased this firearm, I do believe you will agree with this short assessment of this fine rifle. The MSR 15 Recon IS NOT TO BE TRASHED !! Allow me to explain. First, you must work with firearms that are workable. This rifle is friggin' PERFECT !! I'm a former Marine and I wish I had this bad-boy in my mitts back in the day. The weight is more than acceptable even with a small scope. It is well balanced with a construction that is stellar. I have yet to shoot it since receiving it last week because of accessorizing and getting acquainted with this fine machine. Let me say something about scopes; YOU DON'T NEED THEM WITH THIS RIFLE. I do have a R/G sight but I normally take it off because of the Magpul (MBUS ADJUSTMENT) front and rear sights. STELLAR !! These sights are made for guys like me that never trained with a rifle scope. They are just too good to be true. I was a little afraid before I received my banger that the sights would be, eh, so-so. Oh no !! Magpul did a wonderful job of teaming up with Savage Arms and the MSR 15 Recon. The sights can be activated by pushing down on the levers or by depressing the release latches. My dad ALWAYS told me to train the eye WITHOUT accompaniment of any kind, i.e., rifle scopes. Thanks, dad. I'm a man because of you and a man that can handle a rifle such as the one I got last week. Next, the build is so tight !! It doesn't rattle like some AR's I've had in my hands. Everything is precisely perfect in construction. The stock is what I expected; six positions from front to rear. I have mine all the way back because of my long arms. I'm able to cruise with an illuminated sight and even though it's a low profile, I still have no problem seeing down the barrel. Taking it apart, from the charging handle to the bolt carrier group, SWEET !!
This rifle is perfect for me. Others may not agree simply because of the price. I see like this; I didn't spend $2000 on an AR-15 but I go AN AR-15 THAT'S GOT THE DEVIL ON THE RUN!! For $875, I got a rifle that is capable of defending ME and keeping the bad guys far away. Speaking of distance, get some good ammo when you do get this puppy. I'll be experimenting with grains from 55-67. My buddies who are now jealous are assuring me my new addition to the family has little recoil and will enable me to rapid fire with good accuracy.

Get this rifle. You'll be glad you did.

There were slight differences between the rifle pictured, information I gleaned from online reviews and the actual product received. The stock and sights pictured are blackhawk branded accessories.The rifle that came in my box has a Magpul CTR stock and Magpul MBUS sights. As I find Magpul to be a reputable manufacturer that makes quality items I was still very happy. Although not in the description previous reviews I have read indicated that the MSR-15 Recon has an auto profile BCG. Mine was shipped with a semi-auto profile carrier. If you aren't familiar between their differences, this wont be a problem, and unless you plan on running a binary trigger setup it is an inconsequential discrepancy.
The fit and finish is excellent. No blemishes, scratches or in-continuities in the coatings.The upper and lower are very tight fitting; there is zero wiggle. The staking on the castle nut and gas key are good.
Have only shot one magazine through it but seems to function fine. The trigger is very good, but acts like a two stage.

Awesome weapon for an awesome price....Shipped very quick and when I got it home, I realized that the butt-stock was not as pictured. I called BudsGuns and since I had already signed for it, I had to call the manufacturer (Savage)...I called them and they explained to me that butt-stocks were changed recently, but they shipped me the correct butt-stock immediately, no questions asked. First class service across the board.

This is a good Ar. Solid feel and smooth recoil.

Probably weird to have 2 of the same, but I kept considering an AR10 but I don't have any mags, ammo, and its more expensive to shoot. 6.5 creed would be sweet, but again so expensive to run it I would probably take it out only few times a year. Looking at other AR15s, for the money, just didn't see anything else I'd rather have. I'd looooove a POF Renegade but well, double the price. So, second copy of the same, works for me!
Appleseed RWVA full distance course (100 - 400 yards) I scored 222 of 250 then in a second round 213 of 250 (was too slow in the sitting stage, only got 7 of 10 off)
CMP match I got:
slow prone 98/100 (2 Xs)
rapid prone 88/100
rapid sitting 91/100
standing 71/100
I'm far from the best shooter, this thing is reliable and performs. Scores above were all done using 55 grain fiocchi ammo, nothing fancy or expensive

This rifle has an amazing trigger and is extremely accurate right out of the box. I'm not a huge fan of the grip feel but it would be great if you like wearing gloves while you shoot. Feels very well built and over all good ergonomics.

Purchased the savage msr 15 recon from buds gun shop and I'm glad I did! This was something I had been eyeing up for a while and researching while looking for the best price. Buds had the best price if I did the cash option. Wanted to buy it but it was a select firearm for buds members only luckily I checked back the next day and it was now available to anyone. Bought it and couldn't be happier. One complaint was that the stock flip up sights on these guns were garbage but mine for some reason came with magpul mbus flip up sights and I don't know why but who am I to argue with a upgraded I never expected. Will definitely purchase from here again!!!

This is my first Ar15 and I do not regret the decision one bit. I did a lot of research on rifles in this price range and ultimately landed on the Savage MSR 15 Recon. No issues straight of the box. Have fired roughly 400 rounds through it so far. Very impressed with the accuracy with even just the iron sites. Speaking on the iron sites, mine that came in March 2019 was equipped with Magpull mbus sites and not the lower quality Blackhawk flip up sites. Multiple family members have fires this rifle and all have been equally impressed.

The gun is great, runs flawlessly and is accurate beyond my expectations. My first load tested with 69 grain SMK’s easily yielded consistent 1/2 MOA groups. I was glad to see that the gun came with a set of mbus sights instead of the cheaper versions of the earlier model. Ordering from Buds was very smooth and shipping was exactly as advertised.

Customer service was helpful and attentive, they noticed my order was being shipped to a different state and contact me to make sure an error wasn't made. The gun itself is amazing, great quality and just a pleasure to shoot.
